A 21-year-old nonsmoker will be able to buy health insurance that costs as little as $93 a month on the Maryland Health Connection, the state's health insurance exchange, starting Oct. 1 for coverage that takes effect Jan 1, the Maryland Insurance Division revealed in a press release. Rates for insurance with richer benefits and lower deductibles will be higher and premiums will vary by age, residence location, tobacco use and whether family members enroll.
Obviously part of the socialist fascist sandmonkey's plan to enslave America.
Thanks Obama
The data that's been in the news lately seems to show Democratic states that cooperate with ACA getting very low minimum premiums, while Republican states that are resisting at every turn are showing much higher premiums, plus a coverage gap that was supposed to be fixed by expanded Medicaid. So, if you live in a Republican state, be sure to write your representatives a letter thanking them for sticking you with shittier, more expensive healthcare so they could give Obama the middle finger. Thanks, Daniels! Thanks, Pence!
Hold on now, this spin works in reverse too. The reverse spin is that Obamacare favors the Democrat states and Punishes any state not willing to cooperate.
Thanks Obama
Your avatar and name are very fitting.
B-b-but Socialism!
I don't know all the details of the plan specifically, but I don't believe it's as well thought out and revised as it should be (as with anything controlled by the government really) however, the theory behind it, "affordable health care for all" is a good idea that I think could benefit the country a large amount, provided it is regulated not to screw over the middle\lower populace.
$93 a month still sounds like a hell of a lot for something we get free everywhere else. How expensive would it be without the Obamacare discount?
$93 a month still sounds like a hell of a lot for something we get free everywhere else. How expensive would it be without the Obamacare discount?
Calling something 'free' when it's paid for in taxes is kind of misleading, don't you think?
Hold on now, this spin works in reverse too. The reverse spin is that Obamacare favors the Democrat states and Punishes any state not willing to cooperate.
The federal government is offering to pay 100% of the expanded Medicaid expenses. 100%! As in, it wouldn't cost them anything to help poor people get insurance, but they are screwing those people over just so they can say no to Obama. There is no "punishment" of any kind going on here. Not every issue is a "controversy" with two equal sides, in some cases one side is just simply worse than the other one. Lots of people in Republican states will be unable to access healthcare because they don't make the minimum for subsidized premiums, and they make too much for Medicaid. Republicans can fix this issue at zero cost to their states. You know what happens when people can't access healthcare? They get sick and die. Because their Republican representatives refuse to have anything to do with anything passed by Democrats, including their own ideas. People are literally, no exaggeration, going to die because of what they are doing.
Calling something 'free' when it's paid for in taxes is kind of misleading, don't you think?
This is a fucking stupid argument. Everything that's "free" is paid for by someone in some way or another.

The feds are going to pay for a temporary amount of time and after that the state will start paying for the entire thing on their own. The states that aren't taking the fed's money are arguing that they won't be able to sustain the bill after the feds stop paying. Everything that's "free" is paid for by someone in some way or another.
The difference being that you are literally still paying, just in a different form (direct taxes and higher prices because of the taxes on everyone else). Shifting paying is not the same thing as getting something for free.
$93 a month still sounds like a hell of a lot for something we get free everywhere else. How expensive would it be without the Obamacare discount?
According to my mother, my grandmother paid roughly $500 per month just for herself. $6000 per year. I'm not sure how expensive or cheap that is in comparison to other plans but that just seems absurd to me when it doesn't cover everything. EDIT: Granted, Canadians (as far as I'm aware) do pay a bit more but at least I don't have to worry if it's going to cover some procedure or surgery I might need.
premium for us is costing around $130~ a month, so its not all that bad.
This is a fucking stupid argument. Everything that's "free" is paid for by someone in some way or another.
That has nothing to do with what I'm saying. I'm saying that charging someone for a service is still charging someone for a service, regardless of the method of payment. Taxes are a payment for services(for both you and your countrymen) and calling those services "free" is pretty silly.
