Capcom has signed hip-hop artist Method Man and The Office co-star Creed Bratton to lend their talents to an upcoming downloadable game based on the Sour Patch Kids candy brand.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's great time to be alive.
"World Gone Sour" will cast players as a lost piece of candy who must platform across movie theaters, concession stands, and other enemy-filled locales to reach candy nirvana (aka some dude's stomach). The adventure will be narrated (cheekily, we're told) by Creed Bratton, and Method Man's 'World Gone Sour: The Lost Kids' track will be used as the title's main anthem. What? Portishead's 'Sour Times' wasn't available?
For added flavor, the game will incorporate a local co-op mode, global leaderboards, as well as the standard list of Trophies and achievements.
“Sour Patch is the #1 all sour candy brand in the U.S. but there is so much more to these iconic characters than just their sour exteriors and sweet interiors,” said Sebastian Genesio, Sour Patch's Marketing Director. “Bringing our ‘lost kids’ to life in video game form will add a new dimension to these lovable snacks. We feel this video game will resonate strongly with our core audience of teens and young adults.”
World Gone Sour is being developed for release on and PC this winter, followed by appearances on Xbox LIVE Arcade and PlayStation Network in spring 2012. It will sell for $4.99 (400 Microsoft Points), or be traded for one Fruit Roll-Up and two pogs.
Why?
Does everything with a copyright need a game nowadays?

I'll let that decide for you.
It's just an interactive commercial (that costs you $4)
I'd distance myself from calling this a game
Kinda reminds me of Naughty Bear.
Why Capcom, why have you sucked so much ass lately
Instead of Monster Hunter for PC or PS3, you give us fucking Sour Patch Kids. WHO GIVES A FFFFFFF
We ask for Megaman Legends 3 and you give us this?!?!?! :wtc:
don't be so sour, it might be sweet
Fix that, for you.
I'll wait for Super Sour Patch Kids 4: Arcade Edition to buy this. I don't want the original vanilla version.

Capcom is large company, this is no where near the same team that did any megaman game. Although I do admit, capcom has been trolling the megaman fans as of recently.
Why is capcom wasting their time with this?
It's going to be a bitter loss
In the next MvC you can play as the Sour Patch kids!

nooooooo
Damn it, if people are going to make a game that is basically a giant commercial, why don't they just make a 2nd generation of Burger King games. Nothing better than seeing a hi-def reaction of someone's face after you leap out of a garbage can to offer them a Whopper.
Proposed concept art

Don't forget Coleco did the same with the Cabbage Patch Kids.
read that as South Park Kids.
Which is funny, because Obsidian is making a South Park game.

I play the Sour Patch Kids game every time I open a package, where the candy fights to destroy the presence of the evil villain, roof of my mouth and his cohort, lining of my stomach.
