I didn't see anyone post it yet, looks different and the tower defense will probably make it play differently as well.
Oh wow
That's pretty damn awesome
yeeeeeee
If anyone feels like their hype will die down, 1.3 will be out in June and the creator plans to hand off terraria to work on other projects like terraria 2 (otherworld is a spinoff).
The animations this time around looks really good and fluid
tbh the animations make it kinda lose the pixel-y feel, imo
Not a fan of how it looks, it looks kind of generic.
Terraria was one of the pixel art games that really worked with the style, rather than just using pixel art because it's cheaper.

Lose the pixel-y feel? Did it ever have one or are you thinking about the original Terraria which is not the same game?
the only thing I hope they do not and refuse to do is early access.
goodbye starbound
goodbye starbound
It's really a shame that chucklefish can't seem to work even close as fast, yet both chucklefish and relogic are roughly the same size.

They've already said point blank they refuse to use or even contemplate early access for this.

I like how people just constantly ignore the nightly builds.
Also this will probably be as grindy as terraria.

i regret ever buying starbound
Interesting how those machines seem to keep back the corruption, or maybe you can even use them to terraform so you can make base camps near/in corruption.
Hopefully mining feels less tedious this time around, since often that's my main complaint of the genre.

People kept saying "Look at nightly's, look at nightly's, there's progress", and then the update after a year came out and didn't address Starbound's awful energy-ammo system, or worlds having nothing interesting on them, loot sucking 99% of the time, a lack of interesting items, and, wait for it, not even trying to address the fact that all you do is mine in really boring dirt/rock/ice worlds because they made caves rare and especially empty.
Starbound is so unbelievably boring that entire solar systems, heck, multiple stars don't have enough interesting things to make up for a single small Terraria world at that game's launch.

It's what I was afraid might happen when early access first started- that they were going to loose focus and make a mediocre sandbox spread with no vision.
That's it. I made up mind now.
Cya later Starbound.
i really don't like how the new characters look, i kinda miss having sprites instead of moving parts around
This is a spinoff of the original with a different artstyle and a new set of gameplay mechanics it seems, of course it's gonna look severely different. I honestly have no complaints.
The combat system looks like it'll still result in a clusterfuck with more than 1 character, which was a big fault in the first game

Because having a seperate early access build for an early access game makes total sense

I actually love how cluster fucky it gets, me and my friends find it hilarious, and I think it adds to the craziness of the game.

Quoting my post from the Starbound thread.
Except before they made the unstable branch, the base game was the unstable branch.
People were complaining that the regular updates kept messing with world/player data such as resetting the universe or changing how things work and requiring new characters, so they made the stable branch so people could play without fear of stuff breaking, and then moved all of the regular updates to the unstable branch.
[editline]banana[/editline]
"waah the updates are breaking things!"
"okay here, have a platform which sees less updates so that you can play without fear while we continue to work over here"
"waaah why no updates!"
"the updates are coming just like before, but they're over here instead"
"wwaaahhh that doesn't count!"
And then of course, on top of that are the nightlies which are super duper broken and in no way meant to be played, but rather are there so you can follow what the developers are actively working on, which is a lot.

It's worth baring in mind that 'launch' is actually further along in a software's development than beta. It's to be expected that a launch product has more content than a beta - and strictly speaking Starbound isn't really past alpha yet.

Seems like a resource miner of a large scale that pisses off the local wildlife and forces you to protect it from waves of enemies in the process. Honestly, this seems to put Starbound to shame and this is pre-alpha.
Not exactly resource miner, they're used to purify the corruption from the world. They'll defend themselves like a turret, but can be overwhelmed if too many enemies turn up to destroy it.
