Don't most NASA manned mission pilots train on F-15s or similar fighter craft for initial pilot training?
What a beautiful career that man must have.
More like terrifying. Imagine all the ways you can die every day.

Nasa uses F15's and F18's.
And getting to see beautiful moments like that is why I want to become a Pilot
Aerial refueling must be a buttclenching experience first time you do it.

Worth it, there's very few fatalities. You're more likely to die driving all day as a delivery guy.

every car you drive past on the road has the chance to kill you.

also this reminds me of the time my boss brought his shattered phone to work after a flight. We were all like 'omg did you drop your phone out of a plane you were flying because that would be hilarious"
[sp]he fucking ran it over on the runway, heard the crunch and everything[/sp]

Ran it over on the runway...in a plane...?
How?
Why was he even holding his phone while moving along the runway
How did he even manage to drop it in such a way that it ended up under the wheels?

Close call. I think it was turbulence?
Wait, wtf, is the pilot wearing glasses?
Or is that the secondary/gunner?
if i was flying that F-15 i'd just say "is this really the best fuckin' way to do this i mean goddamn"
Wait, wtf, is the pilot wearing glasses?

It's not air force, it's an aircraft for tech demonstration, you can wear glasses and have a piloting license.
More like terrifying. Imagine all the ways you can die every day.
Now that would be one fucking sweet way to go ... Sigh.

While NASA still follows FAA regulations regarding pilot medical requirements, you can wear glasses but must still have 20/40 vision without them. It's pretty weird.

Why would you want to live in fear all your life?

This job is probably safer than delivery driving, construction, really anything in the transportation sector. There's no traffic in the sky and cars don't have an eject button.
The thread title made me think that NASA created the massive refueling airship from Stealth
