although getting something is near impossible, there is hope for some cool sales
Valve are marketing geniuses and I hate them for it. But I also love them.
And another way to exploit the excitement of the community to raise the sales ... I mean, come one, this is bleeding obvious! Though the majority doesn't notice. But still better than any other way of advertisement I guess.
"No purchase necessary" yet to gain more entries you need to buy the games to unlock the achievements in them. Bravo, Valve.
TAKE MY MONEY. /caps
Hopefully I own enough games that I can get more achievements as the days go on. I only got the avatar achievement today :crying:
I'll have to miss out on RUSE but I have the other two games. Just gotta get that Iron Kurtain... [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Curtain, damn lack of edit button
I don't want to buy ruse, but I want to win. I'm cheap. :v: Maybe tomorrow.
"No purchase necessary" yet to gain more entries you need to buy the games to unlock the achievements in them. Bravo, Valve.
More entries is the key. You don't have to purchase in order to compete, your chances are just even smaller. It's free stuff, they are a company, they put out sales and give out free stuff in hope to earn money, not lose money.
I need to get the Poker night achievement, i have the game but haven't played it.
I already got the iron curtain :frown: oh well as if I'm this lucky anyways, I never get the free stuff [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] http://store.steampowered.com/treasurehunt There are TF2 hats too Fuck you valve
It's Obvious They Are Funding The Development Of Episode 3!!! Then They Shall Give It Away For Free!!! :buddy:
It's just another discreet way for Valve to gain more sales.
I think the 100 games thing is meh; I'd probably participate if it was 5 games, with a much larger chance of winning.
Hey Valve, why can't you convince activision to put Call of Duty(es) on sale? Even a 33% sale would generate ludicrous amounts of money in mere hours Just throw some charts at them they'll understand that
Fuck you, I am already in debt because of Steam.
Steam, you gun bankrupt me :downs: [sp]and I like it[/sp]
God damnit. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAABBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Valve stop being so awesome.
so let me get this straight for a virtual article of clothing (Hat of Undeniable Wealth) you need to either own every single game that will be in the list, or spend hundreds of dollars on games, just to flex your e-peen tf2 has been getting shittier and shittier, but it's always been slowly, this is a straight line down
2/4
Fuck, it's almost as if valve actually want to make money out of this!
one hat hundreds of dollars unreasonable
I think the 100 games thing is meh; I'd probably participate if it was 5 games, with a much larger chance of winning.
There's 1 chance to win 5 games and 20 chances per 7 days to win 5 games. [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Crap. 1 chnace to win 100 games, and 20 chances per 7 days to win 5 games*
I liked the last event where random people got 5 games off their wishlist that also didnt require purchase.
one hat hundreds of dollars unreasonable
it's more along the lines of some nice games hundreds of dollars cheaper than buying them normally anyway
There should be a hat for not getting any of the treasure hunt achieves. But you have to have made an account before it started.
Oh lord that hat's gonna be valuable.
Cool! I gotta spend $30+ just to get a Tf2 hat, yeah no. This'd be fun if it was actually smart and was actually a treasure hunt, like finding secret pages, but no. We have to buy stuff instead [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] Whoever gets the rare hat will probably sell it for 1 grand

TF2 sure is being ruined! [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] Also, chances are, if you'll buy every game on the list and get the exclusive hat, you could easily sell the hat for more than how much all the game combined cost.
