soilent green is my favorite
is this any good? i like the idea..
he does not look healthy at all by the end, especially considering he lost weight nor does the guy who made the stuff nor does the fact they have rats running around the "factory" [editline]12th November 2013[/editline] just eat greens and meat like we have for 6 million years we'll be okay

But eating is not only about nutrition, it is also about taste. And why are they looking so pale and powerless? Does this drink really have everything the body needs? What about proteins? Vitamins? [editline]12th November 2013[/editline] [QUOTE=Trumple;42840695] just eat greens and meat like we have for 6 million years we'll be okay[/QUOTE] It probably also tastes better.
but what does this stuff do to your intestines? I mean our bodies were designed to process food breaking it down gradually and slow. This stuff is pure nutrition and the body probably doesn't have to put too much effort into dissolving and utilizing it. I'd like to see a long term study on this before I jump on the bandwagon. I like the concept of being able to feed the whole world but I think we need to realize that part of the solution is not to overpopulate the planet, not treat the symptoms caused by it.
Surely a liquid based diet cannot be great, regardless of nutrition. I guess the stuff could be good as a back-up and should help developing countries.
I can see applications, but I will cut you if you replace my diet with this. No, you replace my food with this and [I]I will fucking kill you.[/I]
I'd be interested in giving it a try. Not as a total diet replacement, obviously, but like some soylent as a quick and easy breakfast, then a proper lunch and dinner, sure.
"This is something for animals. Why would I eat this?" Because humans are animals. Honestly...
I think the product could work. I would like to see a baked version as well.
The way he acted after 21:05 at the restaurant was just incredibly delightful to watch. He just looks so content!

If this is healthy for you, i'd do it like suggested and have a proper meal couple times a week with healthy snacks now and again. Why the fuck not because most of my health is at risk from maintaining a balanced diet because of expense, time, willingness and the commodity of having the diverse amount of produce needed.
Whys everyone talking in croaky voices
I think if I used this (not as a replacement) 5 out of 7 days of the week i could probably get into it. Plus, if there's really no problems with drinking the stuff straight up there would be nothing to lose but a few pounds from not eating "real" food most of the time. [editline]sd[/editline] but currently the price is pretty damn high. I spend around $300-$500 on food a month and if I had a soylent diet in my home (as a replacement) it would be $700+
My major concern with the stuff they're manufacturing, they clearly don't understand basic sanitation and their operation seems pretty inefficient. Transferring bulk to smaller containers and spilling it all over the floor = wasted product = wasted money = higher costing product. They're wearing hairnets, but the guys are not wearing beard guards that cover the beard and mustache so hair can still get in the product. clearly they got a pest problem and i'm willing to bet that it is from lack of proper storage and controlling the product. I bet they just leave that shit out overnight. Hell, one of the bags he opened had mold in it. This guy who made this stuff up is basically going by "broscience" Total meal replacement is horrible, yes it is fine to replace a few snacks or meals but drinking this all day every day is stupid. Go get a tub of muscle milk/protein powder/lean powder it is cheaper and more then likely better for you as a meal replacement. The guy is a software engineer....not a nutritionist or doctor. His shit has not even been tested. The fact that guy lost 5lbs in like one-two weeks is pretty bad. I bet you that a lot of that weight loss is muscle tissue and not fat.

I think the only reason they were ever in that shithole of a factory was because they didn't have enough cash to buy a decent sized one. And yes, he tested it himself, as well as the man in the documentary. both of them said they shouldn't eat it alone and replace all hard food. if there was something wrong with it I think in a whole month of using it daily they would have found out.
Planning to cut it down to $5 for a weeks worth just might do a bit of good. Combined with some efficient solid protein(Fish, red meat, etc.) and you could live off of around $5 a day, albeit in undiscernable conditions
This could work imo, but many more versions would be necessary- the ideal would be ones based on sex + weight + age + lifestyle. [editline]12th November 2013[/editline] What worries me the most is shitting watery for the rest of my life.
Even if this did work, why would you call a product you want people to eat "Soylent", since most people only know about Soylent green, which is made from people.

The guy used the shit for 2 weeks and his doctor highly suggested him to get off of it. He lost 5lbs...that isn't healthy.
Why do they all have red cheeks?
[QUOTE=SuddenImpact;42840722]But eating is not only about nutrition, it is also about taste. And why are they looking so pale and powerless? Does this drink really have everything the body needs? What about proteins? Vitamins?[/QUOTE] This is the dystopian future where everyone looks down and depressed. I like the idea of this for helping people though. I'm not too sure if it'd work very well for a daily diet (from what I see in the video), but as a meal replacement shake every now and then, or to help feed people who can't get proper food, I'm interested in how this turns out. Even though you'd need clean water, couldn't it also be helpful for disaster relief? Something has to be better than nothing, considering the guy in the video said he didn't feel hungry.

I ordered a weeks' supply of this, should get it sometime in Q1. Looking forward to trying it tbh
Seems like a new masochistic experiment I should try. Eat this shit for a month and spend the next month basking in an orgy of food. Its like edging.
it sounds interesting to try. maybe it could even help a person who has no control over how much he eats which ends in the person becoming fat? I'd probably pay a few visits to a doctor every now and then if I ever decide to try this though, just to be sure
