Last week, Prep Rally covered the disturbing story of a Hong Kong youth soccer match which devolved into a series of nasty, mean-spirited fouls. Now the aftermath of that game has taken a stunning turn, with one 10-year-old from the game arrested for his kick to the head of a 12-year-old opponent.

As reported by the London Telegraph, an unnamed youth soccer player for the English Schools Foundation squad has been arrested for a violent kick to the head of a 12-year-old member of the Kitchee Escola team. The violent kick was captured on video and posted on YouTube, quickly emerging as a flash point across the Internet.
Now the incident has apparently been taken out of the court of public opinion and put into the actual court. The Telegraph reported that the 10-year-old Hong Kong resident was released on bail on Monday after he was brought up on charges following the filing of an official police report by the parents of the student who had been kicked in the incident.
Meanwhile, the ESF claimed it plans to cooperate fully with any police inquiries into the incident.
"I understand that the parent of the injured child has referred the matter to the police and we will cooperate fully with any police investigation," the head of the Hong Kong ESF, chief executive Heather Du Quesnay, wrote in a letter to parents, as obtained by AFP.
While the charges against the younger, white player almost ensure that the incident continues to garner international attention, the coach of the player who was kicked spoke to AFP insisting he didn't think there were any elements of racism involved in the violent in-game foul.
"Don't read too much into it," Kitchee coach Ken Ng told AFP. "It is one boy kicking another boy."
Excuse me, I didn't watch the video the whole way through. (snip, sorry).
Those kids in the blue uniforms are all little fuckers, this kids getting what he deserves honestly.

If they had done that at my school, they'd probably have their asses kicked. We had a bunch of bossy maniacs on the sports course, they wanted to kick our asses after someone pee'd all over the showers.
Those kids really needed a few slaps on their shit to get some respect and fair play, some of that stuff was just plain awful and the kick was downright retarded.
Why are 10 year olds suddenly getting arrested for shit?
Why are 10 year olds suddenly getting arrested for shit?
Because he kicked the shit out of that kid in the face and the whole round the team in blue were just being little pricks. Shoving, tackling being assholes in general. I'm generally not for punishment of little kids, but this kid has it coming.

Because this is Assault, watch the video.
A sport used as an excuse to boot someone in the face violently and intentionally.

Thats why fencing is the best, stabbing the shit out of people and getting away with it.

The fuck?
Deserves everything he gets. You don't just kick someone in the head because they're beating your team.
As if, he clearly took a dive!
I understand that he kicked him in the face (probably deliberately) and he should get in trouble with this but I do feel sorry for the kid because being arrested at 10 and going through a legal battle must be incredibly stressful. I also wonder if the coach instructed them to be vicious with the fouling because the whole team was up to it. If he is actually given any sort of punishment over this he will have an assault charge on his criminal record for the rest of his life which will screw up his job opportunities massively.
at 10, you should be mature enough to decide that booting someone in the head is wrong.

How is fencing? I've always wanted to try it.
I'm in a ESF school myself and I have to say that is a massive disgrace.
[I'm in HK, but don't know where the flags went :o]

Well one of my teachers at the time was olympic standard, dueling with that guy was like going into a fight, getting psyched up and losing before even thinking about making your move.
It's an interesting sport, but challenging, requires discipline.
Unlike paintball obviously. You can still shoot them after they're eliminated then they bitch and moan.
Whoever employs the coach should re-evaluate his position in this, he has a responsibility to teach these kids about what is an unsafe (and unfair) tackle. He also has a responsibility to tell these kids to calm down because in the long run, it's just a game and not worth endangering anyone over.
Depends when the age of criminal responsability is in Hong Kong. For most places around the world it's 10, but for Britain it's 12 and Scotland it's 14
