So, earlier the other day, while reading Gibson's Neuromancer, I came across the phrase "vat-grown meat". It's meat that has been artificially grown, identical in nature to real meat.
If you are a vegan/vegetarian, would you object to eating such meat?
I am a vegan and I would not eat the meat because I'm hardcore. :regd08:
Edit: Who voted me dumb? I will kick your arses with a dull, dirty carrot you pieces of shit.
Edit 2: OK, now this is getting fucking ridiculous. Stop giving me fucking boxes. What are you all, 12? Just because I eat parsnip all day because I have some strange, unjustifiable prejudice against meat doesn't mean I deserve this ridicule in the form of ratings on a public forum - THIS IS RUINING MY LIFE.
Edit 3: Look you cunts, I told you to stop and you kept on going. STOP FUCKING DOING IT. You might think it's funny but it's actually really fucking immature.
Edit 4: Oh go murder some pigs and eat their flesh you barbarous wankers.
Edit 5: Hey cocksuckers, I just went down town and guess what I bought? That's right, a notepad and a fucking machete. Whoever voted me dumb say so, and I will add your scummy name to the list. You think you can be all hard on the internet, stating your opinion anonymously? Well have fun with that you pussies. As soon as you grow some balls come talk to me and then we can find out who is a meek piece of crap (protip: it's you).

Sure I would eat that
It would be in their best interests to eat it, to gain the proper nutrients that they currently miss out on
It depends whether they don't eat meat for health or ethical reasons
Fucking vegans/vegatarians, when will they realise they're a pain in the ass and that eating meat is natural?
[editline]02:40PM[/editline]
And artifical grown meat sounds disgusting.

Why are they a pain in the ass
oh no a different lifestyle to me!!

You ever tried catering for a vegie?
Picky fucks, you even get some who want bits of meat with their vegie meals.
Absolute pain in the ass.
The thing with Vegetarianism is that they can't eat bacon, and bacon is fucking delicious. I bet if you blindfolded a vegetarian/ vegan and gave them some bacon, but told them it was lettuce, they would fucking love it. After they found out it was bacon they would immediately become omnivorous. True story.

It's a fad... give it time and it'll pass...
Anyway, these bunnymen won't make it to the next generation :v:

2 proofs of God:
1. Bacon is so delicious it must be Divine.
2. God being a practical joker made is so his chosen people couldn't eat Bacon.

I'm not vegetarian for ethical reasons, so no. I wouldn't.
Vegans are a walking paradox; most try desprerately to convince themselves that tofu and tempe are as good as meat, while attempting to mimic meat at every turn.
It would be a shame to throw away all that delicious meat, because we need cows anyway for milk and sexy leathery. Why not make use of the whole animal and prove your love to it by ingesting its meat. It will make you feel all happy from inside.
u fucken moster, think about what uts like to be kept in a cage for years just to be kiled and eaten by bloodthirsy ppl? die in a fukin fire
Crusader avatar irony.
Yeah I don't like meat in general. It's so... meaty.
I wouldn't eat any vat grown artificial meat.
We have plenty of meat analogues anyway.
[editline]11:54 PM[/editline]
the bigger irony is that I've seen vegantarians or whatever going "I wish he died" to this trainer at a water park thing that got injured by a whale or something.
You're confusing "vegantarians" with militant vegans.
I eat normal meat but 'vat grown meat' sounds dodgy
Where does dystopia come in to the picture in this scenario?
I would. I've been pushing for artificial, cloned, or grown meat for a long while. While it wouldn't fix some of my issues as far as taste and sch for meat, it would remove my moral objections and allow me to eat some of my previous favorite food stuffs.
I'm not vegetarian for ethical reasons, so no. I wouldn't.
But the ethical dilemma is that currently meat is from a killed animal, vat grown stuff was never truly alive because it's simply muscle tissue grown from a DNA base, so theres nothing to kill for the meat.
But I wouldn't eat it, an animal has to die for my dinner.
I want vegan super powers.
Vegans are wimps.
I don't understand vegetarians. They don't eat fish -> fish can't feel pain -> plants are basically the same -> eating fish is the same as eating plants -> vegetarians and vegans are hypocrites
I did make a deal with a vegetarian though; once every lion stops eating meat and only eating plants, then I will become one of those lettuce-munchers
I don't understand vegetarians. They don't eat fish -> fish can't feel pain -> plants are basically the same -> eating fish is the same as eating plants -> vegetarians and vegans are hypocrites

What?
the point of vegetanarianism is to not eat meat because humans do not need to make animals suffer/die for food
this process has no form of suffering/death so why should there be any problem

Wait, what?
Fish have a nervous system, they feel pain, just like every other animal with a central nervous system.

Too bad they're too retarded not go for the food that's on a hook.
Too bad they're too retarded not go for the food that's on a hook.
That's like saying a dogs too retarded to not eat the steak with cyanide in it. Chances are if the fish gets caught on the hook, the hook has a fly or bait on it to mask the fact it's a hook, and then they can't learn from the mistake cause most of the time they are kept and eaten.
I don't eat meat very often because I dislike the texture
If it's exactly the same then It wouldn't appeal.
Then again, it would help those who don't eat it for ethical issues.
Either way, it's an advancement, and almost any advancement is worth doing, hell it might even help along organ growing.
Another thing is that for a restaurant like mcdonalds, they wouldn't have to go for the all the nasty bits of the animal, as "proper" meat is readily available. Therefore heightening the appeal; Which could be good or bad.
