Unlike the [URL="http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1457207"]Artificial Intelligence Thread[/URL], which is all about real robots and AI and whatnot, [I]this[/I] thread is all about the appreciation for all the robots in works of fiction such as movies, TV shows, video games, and even books. Or even if they're not from any of those, that's fine so long as they don't exist.
And I guess through various loopholes fictional AIs would count as well since they inhabit computers and stuff... whatever. Let's count them as robots too just to not be exclusive.
[B]The Three Rules of Robotics:[/B]
1. This is a thread strictly for fictional robots. Please take all discussions on real robots to the thread I linked in the opening statement.
2. If you're gonna post something you wouldn't want mom seeing, link it as NSFW. This rule especially falls under any discussion of "solicitation" robots.
3. OC is most welcome. Again, mark it as NSFW if you're gonna go there.
Crime fighters, unstoppable killing machines, domestic servants, bending units, wisecracking sidekicks, etc. Whatever short circuits your boat, all are welcome.

I always felt like a battle droid could make a good companion. Like, I imagine some smuggler salvaging one off a Clone Wars battlefield, removing the CIS programming, and just having him serve as his partner in crime. And after seeing The Clone Wars, I think they could have an amusing personality develop if let be (did the show ever explore their quirks of character, BTW?)
I mean, they wouldn't be anywhere close to, say, HK-47, but those guys always seemed pretty nifty to me.

I like the robots in rideback (some of the control is given to the machine), where the solution to the problem of quick locomotion with bipedal machines are present.

I saw a poster for an anime from the 80s which had the same bipedal design and was motogp based, wish I knew what it was and saved the image to do a google image search.

Some people will say it's boring and unimaginative but I think it's a pretty unique design and, if not quite realistic, at least an interesting idea of robotics might take us when we value function over form, such as in military applications.
