The WHO warned of the danger of a "rapid spread" of the disease in the capital, Antananarivo.
The situation is worsened by high levels of resistance among fleas to a leading insecticide, the WHO added.
Humans usually develop the bubonic form of the plague after being bitten by an infected flea carried by rodents.

There have been two confirmed cases in the capital, including one death.
"There is now a risk of a rapid spread of the disease due to the city's high population density and the weakness of the healthcare system," the WHO said.
A task force has been activated to manage the outbreak.
What? Bubonic plague? It's prevalent throughout the American southwest.

Australia is an Island, and a continent... Checkmate?
Even though it was madagascar that got the plague outbreak, I don't see how any of this is funny. The plague is such a horrible disease to contract that it's unreal.
Didn't this happen about the same time last year?

Dust the Island with Diatomaceous earth, fleas literally cannot develop any immunity whatsoever to that shit.

Okay, but what does that do to the everything else
Vice News did a really interesting documentary on the plague in Madagascar:

Those bloody penguins
Someone's gotten a lucky spawn!
On a more serious note, what's the risk of it spreading out of Madagascar?
Okay, but what does that do to the everything else
It kills lots of bugs, not just fleas, so there's that.
Also It's moderately toxic to breathe.

Pretty sure this has been happening at least once a year for a long, long time. It's just isolated to Madagascar and almost never spreads anywhere else.

If it did, it would prob be fine as we've had the cure to the plague for ages. But the chances of it spreading is pretty low.

I am not sure how far it will spread in Africa, but the west has no reason to fear. Modern medicine kills the plague in a matter of days.

It's already out of Madagascar. It's still an active disease around the world, it just hasn't reached epidemic levels again because people know how diseases spread now.
holy shit i can actually understand madagascar's french
unlike every other dialect
Well we are safe for now guys, they don't have airports.

I know this is a bit of a bump.
But mildly toxic to breathe? I remember my grandmother putting that in her smoothies.

Your grandmother must have made some strange smoothies.
I remember my grandmother putting that in her smoothies.
What in the fuck
It's not toxic, it's a lung irritant, prolonged exposure to the lungs causes major problems just like breathing in pumice and volcanic ash.
Don't get me wrong it's fucking weird putting it in smoothies but as far as I'm aware it wouldn't be dangerous.
Actually, yeah - it's called Food Grade DE and apparently it has a few benefits.
