I'm going into my heavy metal phase and wanted to know of some good songs.
Currently my favorite.

Only like it when at 0:49
I have all of rob zombies songs so none of that. Also have all of breaking benjamin and three doors down. Also metallica.
I like the fast heavy metal not the slow kind so please fill me in on the good stuff. =]

As I Lay Dying

Just a few.
I think the first thing you need to notice is that Three Doors Down and Breaking Benjamin are not by any means 'heavy metal.'
Not very much Heavy Metal in this thread I see.. :Dawkins102:

Well OP, I know next to nothing about the genres you like according to that video.
However:
*list*
That's alot to keep you occupied.
That is a great list right there. Most of those bands I've either heard of and liked or can recommend personally apart from Slipknot, Cradle of Filth, and Job for a Cowboy perhaps. Props to having a broad selection of subgenres in your list.
On the topic of Sunn O))), they're an acquired taste. Their "power ambient" doomy and droney dark style takes a bit of getting used to. Listen to albums like Monoliths & Dimensions before going for albums like Black One.
Oh yeah, and if you like Sunn O))), you may also like Earth and Electric Wizard. Electric Wizard's album Dopethrone is particularly great, a bit more aggressive and sometimes hateful though.
If you like progressive metal, check out Alchemist. Alchemist have been called "one of the best kept secrets in metal" for good reason. They've experimented with many genres of metal. Spiritechnology is a good album if you like death metal and Organasm is also great. There's also Cynic for a progdeath feel. Their music is very complex to say the least.

I would also have to recommend your classic heavy metal such as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, etc.

And then there's 80s speed/thrash.

Now we get to power metal, glorious power metal.

Now I'll venture into the world of black metal.

And lastly but certainly not the least, the wonderful genre of progressive metal. I'll only include Dream Theater because fucking Dream Theater goddamn that is some awesome shit.

Well, there you are OP. I hope this page stretching list will help you expand your listening palette. Also my apologies if some of the videos are WMG copyrighted and muted.
If any of my links are broken or there are any mistakes, somebody please let me know, my Internet is slow so I can't review each video, it was mostly search, copy link address, post.
And some random throw-ins:

This man knows his shit.
Also if you wish to listen to heavier stuff, I reccomend Thrash Metal. You should begin by listening to Megadeth, Metalica, Slayer and Anthrax.

They're not heavy metal. None of the ones I know. Although still, Insomnium, Eluveitie, Amon Amarth, and Ensiferum are awesome. Check em out, if you're into it. Melodeath bands.
Seeing as the OP knows jack shit about genres, I am going to go by the title.
Heavy Metal:
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Metallica
More towards the Thrash and Power side:
Megadeth
Slayer
Gamma Ray
Sabaton
Helloween

This is a condensed version of the metal on my list he's likely looking for. In addition to this, I would have to recommend Motorhead.
Hail of bullets, the entire discog of one album and one ep :v:
possibly the best war metal ever.
the only heavy metal i like is three days grace
Hail of bullets, the entire discog of one album and one ep :v:

You just keep introducing me to awesome things bravehat, first Meshuggah and now this :D
Nobody recommended Mastodon? :Dawkins102:
Nobody reccomended Mastodon? :Dawkins102:
Actually I did, Oblivion was one of the videos in my post but it's so huge I doubt many people noticed the song.
Mastodon are pretty good.
HammerFall, Sabaton, Dream Evil, all awesome Heavy/Power metal bands.
You just keep introducing me to awesome things bravehat, first Meshuggah and now this :D
No problem man :v:
In that case check out last fm's djent member radio has alot of epic stuff on it.
And check out CiLiCe, Blotted Science, Animals as Leaders and cloudkicker
Actually, that Demon Hunter song wasn't that bad. Undoubtedly metalcore, I'm sure, but it wasn't that bad. Note that I didn't get much farther than two minutes in, so there may be a horrid breakdown in it that I didn't get to, but still.
White, if you like those vocals in particular, then may I suggest Beyond the Embrace? They have similar, raspy vocals:
Fleshengine Breakdown has less raspy vocals, leaning more toward dirty cleans (:v:). Redeemer is a lot more... I don't know, I suppose uppity fits better. You may like it for that; the riffs are entertaining. The vocals are primarily dirty clean, though the rasps are used a good bit, especially in the chorus, in great conjuncture with the cleans. Also, the chorus is pretty catchy.
Other bands you may want to consider if you're into vocals similar to Demon Hunter's include Burden of Grief and This Ending, both of which use vocals closer to rasps than anything else.
Burden of Grief - Swallow the Sun
This Ending - Inside the Machine
And I'm sure this'll piss a lot of people off, but here's a cover of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" by Burden of Grief. It could be better, especially knowing Burden of Grief, but it could be worse, too.
OP so longer owns this thread, it is now meant for metal discussion :D
Oh and bravehat, I'll be sure to check that out. Really loving blotted SCience for a start.
Machinations is a fucking great album, especially synaptic plasticity and night terror.
And check out the song Chernobyl by CiLiCe as soon as possible :P
I just like the fast guitar solos those are my main interest.
Check out Pantera then.

Random statement but fuck me Dime's tone in this song was epic :v:
OH GOD HOW DID I FORGET PANTERA :suicide:
OH GOD HOW DID I FORGET PANTERA :suicide:
:black101:
The outro to Floods by Pantera is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard.

I am always at a loss for words after hearing that outro.
Also I'l bring the big guns.

:black101:
Holy fuck I'm missing out
My dad used to listen to this song all the time and I never knew what it was called. Finally found it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbILgCBgwac
Loved it.
You'd need to specify, there's lots of different kinds of metal
Start with some Dream Theatre perhaps?
I personally think In Flames are terrible and wouldn't recommend that
