Oh man this takes me back. I've been watching his stuff since this video and it's crazy to see how far everything has come. I never would've guessed all those years ago that he'd end up with his own movie.
Ashens had that same sofa for 9 fucking years
Ashens had that same sofa for 9 fucking years
I mean, my parents have had the same sofa for like 12 years at this point. Are sofas something you change often?
I mean, my parents have had the same sofa for like 12 years at this point. Are sofas something you change often?
I think it depends on the sofa. The one I'm sitting on is a fairly simple one thats ~60 years old and comes from my grandparents house, its been reupholstered like 3-4 times and we found some of my moms old toys in it when we got it a few years ago. I'ts ripped to shreds at this point though so were just going to replace it, not worth the cost/effort to reupholster again.
...Wait, he has a movie? What the fuck? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2902898/
Indeed. It's awful. I love it so much.
I heard it was better then the AVGN movie at least.
I heard it was better then the AVGN movie at least.
I heard that the AVGN movie wasn't even funny to AVGN fans. I also heard that AVGN cried before airing the premiere at a movie theater, as if he was happy he got that far. I don't know what to do with this mixture of emotions. I feel bad.
Ashens had that same sofa for 9 fucking years
If I remember correctly it's not even his sofa, he borrowed it from a friend.
I remember back in the day when he called himself Dr. Ashens oh how simple things were back then
in 200 years time, people will remember ashens by the sofa that will sit within a glass case, within a maximum security museum.
Christ I remember watching this, I remember at the time I wasn't all that entertained by it but I thought that he had a great personality for video. I remember thinking "this guy will probably go pretty far." I was right... Granted I am much more entertained by his videos these days.
My favourite part is, even in this video, the camera is still at the exact same bloody angle.

You can sort of see in early LGR videos as well. But other than that you can tell he had a format going that could potentially work.
Shit it's hard to believe that video came out in 2006, I remember seeing that video when it came out and really liking his channel for his videos of knockoff stuff. Also awesome how nothing has changed in his video style at all, besides new cameras and guests for certain videos.
jesus the youtube compression through the years
jesus the youtube compression through the years
Youtube has actually changed formats/compression levels/etc over the years. The changes apply to old videos as well. This probably looks far better now than it did in 2006. I remember in the early days before YouTube HD most of the videos were barely watchable. Anyone else remember putting &fmt=18 in the URL :v: ?
I remember back in the day when he called himself Dr. Ashens oh how simple things were back then
It's because he's an actual doctor. Has a PhD in Psychology of all things. Man, a guy has a PhD in Psychology, but instead of pursuing that, he chooses to review tat on his sofa instead. There's something weirdly ironic in there somewhere.
My first encounter with Ashes was in 2009, when I looked up videos of fake iPhones. Because I for some reason wanted one. Because I couldn't afford a real one. Luckily, Dr. Ashens taught me better, and he saved me a whooping 20 dollars!

You can totally find 60fps video uploaded before that change or 720p video from 2006.
