It's a remake of the original DBZ using some newer CGI effects in a few scenes and cutting out all the useless filler episodes and extremely long dialog + flashbacks effectively cutting out atleast 25% of the shows original episode count. It's actually pretty shit because it's heavily censored and covered up unlike the original uncut episodes. Less blood, swearing and gratuitous violence.

Having watched this show without the gratuitous blood and swearing in the first place (Funimation fuuu), then I'm not bothered by it. Its still nice to see them cut the show's length by like 2/3rd's.

I had the same reaction. AWESOME NEW HD!!! Then I finally saw the first episode, the quality was exactly the same as the original. Then I saw the first fight against Raditz, some pretty neat effects but then when Piccolo shot his beam cannon at Goku and the hole in his chest was blurred and just had a small black singe mark with no blood. Then I put my sad face on and just closed the site.

if you actually watched DBZ again (for the first time since your childhood, presumably, as was the case with me) you'd be sorely disappointed with how bad a show it actually is.
I used to fucking love DBZ when I was a kid and then I watched a bit of it a few weeks ago for nostalgic purposes and it was just... dead to me. For a kid's show, it's awesome. As a [I]television show[/I], it's complete and utter trash.
We're better off not having something like this to ruin our nostalgic perception of DBZ.
Speak for yourself. I am 21 now and still love the series, albeit I have the uncut version instead now. I still think it's a pretty badass show with quite a few cheesy moments but epic battles.

DBZ is like a skyscraper made out of cheddar with a picture of 2 boxers crudely plastered onto the outside of the upper floors
I used to love this show and the games. It's weird the way the creator started off incredibly heterosexual with plenty of gratuitous naked women in the original Dragonball and in Z moving towards a slightly less straight bunch of 30-year old men with pecks bigger than Jupiter.

It would have been nice if the drawing was redone in a higher quality style, such as what it is like in the intro. That looks amazing compared to the barely redone artwork.

I rediscovered Dragonball by reading the manga recently and gained a whole new appreciaton for the characters, humour and art style of Akira Toriyama.
