The neck is REALLY small.
Yeah, I added that on at the last second. Next time i will make it bigger.
Why is the jaw all angular like that, Tim? When you're illustrating a character's jaw line, you should execute a precise stroke that contours the jaw bone. Additionally, I can't fathom any situation in which the flesh surrounding the lower portion of one's eyes would be completely straight.

The chin needs to be 37% pointier.
If your pencil lead doesn't snap due to the sheer force of the reflex angle, it isn't pointy enough.
i say go for manga, it makes me happy when i see it, also its not bad for your first drawing, faces are hard to do :<
Manga styles, in general, are pretty generic, and have little to no artistic originality. Develop your own style of drawing. Manga's cool when I'm reading manga. Made by Japanese people.
Personally, I recently ditched the manga style in exchange for my own personal style I'm developing myself. Give it a whirl, and see what you're capable. Also, look for model references.

I say stay the fuck away from it until you know what you're doing.
Starting out with manga is the dumbest thing to do.
Go for realistic styles.
