http://www.twitch.tv/twitchplaysdark They're in new game plus now, a vote is currently going on that decides the next game (dark souls 2 or demon souls) which ends in 24 hours. You can see the final fight here (live-action edit): edit: Dark Souls 2 playthrough begins in 8 hours of this edit.
I don't know how this can be possible, but I love it. Twitch plays stuff is so neat and interesting to watch.
I don't know how this can be possible, but I love it. They paused the game, did a poll on which button to push next, unpaused the game, pushed button, repeat.
How in the fuck
How in the fuck
Watch the timer in the top left corner.
How in the fuck
They stopped using direct input and instead used a vote system for button input. Basically they made it actually possible. Look at the top shit on the video, you'll see the jump cuts between the pauses.
I need to get on this Twitch Plays train, they seem to make easy money on those donations
I need to get on this Twitch Plays train, they seem to make easy money on those donations
Twitch plays Final Fantasy. Which one? All of them. A million buck right there.
Even with the voting system, this shit is fucking amazing!
Considering the 30 second pauses between inputs I'm not surprised they managed to beat the game. There wasn't much room for fuckery as people wanting to deny progression didn't have the numbers or motivation to do so, and most of the difficulty of the game does come from the speed and reaction based combat which is removed by having a pause for thirty seconds. But I suppose only taking two hits in one of the most aggressive boss fights is evidence of how much the thirty second pause takes away from the difficulty of the game. Still, props to the people who had the dedication to stick with it for 43 days of pauses.
Unimpressed. It included too many helper elements, and generally favors people who want it to succeed. It should just be delivering the inputs unfiltered to the game.

Its not fun to watch and chat was constantly spammed.

Of course they were gonna win when the host set it up to be as easy as this. It was a great thing in the start of the original pokemon run. [sp]until the guy who ran it started listening to the whiny kids and made it easier to win.[/sp] I haven't heard of any pure "twitch plays" since that, because people have no patience.

Sure, disable stuff that allows you to exit the game, but the level of handholding in these just make it all incredibly boring. I'm sorry for shitting on your boring parade, but if you picked a random number between 1 and 10, and managed to pick the one I'm thinking of, I'd literally be more impressed.

I find this... weird. The thing is, this isn't really what I think about when I hear "TwitchPlays", and I think that the whole "making the game actually possible for TwitchPlays" only shows that this isn't really a good game for this format. I think that turn-based games are way better for this type of stuff, where people messing around and fucking around without too much consequences. But I guess these 3d pause-only games just aren't what I really like, I mean, I'm also not a huge fan of democracy mode for about the same reasons of it slows it down too much for my liking and it's less chaotic. If you guys like it, more power to you, but I think I'd rather watch one without pauses on FF or X:Com...
I can't even get past the very first boss and Twitch can. Am I that bad..

Think about this. Assuming they ever got out of that corner without the thing that made it playable, and assuming they made it a good part into the game (they wouldn't have) and got to the infamous archers. Remember that thin archway you have to walk up? All it would have took was one twat to say "a" or "d" for them to fall off and have to do the massive walk from that respawn point again and again. Now considering they couldn't get out of a pool at the start of the game, this walk for another chance at the archway would probably take weeks to achieve. I mean yeah the harder it is for them the cooler it would be for them to complete it, however, they wouldn't have got anywhere. It would have simply been impossible.

DkS may not be the best game to do with this formula, since it requires strong filtering and anti-abuse measures.
After 43 days, Twitch beat Dark Souls. After 4 years, I have not. :(
lol at the people sayin it's unimpressive cause they paused the game after each input you try playing like that, your timing just totally falls apart. if anything, it's just as impressive [editline]26th September 2015[/editline]
And that's how it should be! The fact that walking through the fog-door took like 5 minutes in real time is the reason why I didn't find this Twitch Plays that interesting.

Really fascinating stuff to me.
