Yep, just about fiscal issues! No social issues here, folks!
Tea Party Nation keeps pushing anti-gay attacks, from supporting anti-LGBT bullying to defending Michele and Marcus Bachmann’s clinic’s use of ‘ex-gay’ reparative therapy. Now, Tea Party Nation president Judson Phillips is using the current debate on the debt and the Defense budget to launch another anti-gay smear against Rep. Barney Frank, the openly gay Democratic congressman. Phillips called on Tea Party members to oppose Frank’s proposal to cut defense spending, arguing that the Tea Party should support more spending since he believes “Obama wants to destroy the American military,” and taunted Frank by saying that the Defense Department “needs to send Frank a new ‘friend’” who can change his mind:
One of the leaders of the Party of Treason demanding cuts is Barney Frank. Right we should listen to Barney Frank. The last time we listened to Barney Frank we ended up with the sub prime crisis and a wrecked economy. And now he wants to do that to national defense? At least, unlike when he was regulating Fannie Mae, he isn’t sleeping with anyone in the Defense Department as he proposes future policy. Wait, maybe that is the problem. With the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, maybe DOD needs to send Frank a new “friend” and the DOD budget will do better. … Defense is the one area, even in the time of a depression, such as the Obama depression, when we should be increasing spending. Instead of retiring a couple of aircraft carriers, what do you think would happen if the Obama regime decided to build a couple of new ones! (No, I’m not on drugs. I know Obama wants to destroy the American military. This is just a hypothetical) … If we decided to build a couple of new carriers, thousands of workers would be hired for the shipyards. Thousands of employees would be hired for the steel mills that would provide the steel for the hull and various sub contractors would hire thousands. Do you know what that means? It means they would receive paychecks and go out and spend that money. That would help a recovery. That is a shovel ready project! Increasing spending for the military does a couple of things. It not only not only [sic] stimulates the economy, it protects our nation. That is a better investment than say spending money on teaching Chinese prostitutes how to drink responsibly.

Defense is the one area, even in the time of a depression, such as the Obama depression, when we should be increasing spending.
You spelled education and healthcare wrong. Tea Party is such a ridiculous thing it boggles the mind how it can even exist in a western society
Yeah sure Tea party. Because we need 700 billion dollars to maintain defence :allears: [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
That is a better investment than say spending money on teaching Chinese prostitutes how to drink responsibly.
Fuck you Tea Party. [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
(No, I’m not on drugs. I know Obama wants to destroy the American military. This is just a hypothetical)
Sureeeeeeeee
You spelled education and healthcare wrong. Tea Party is such a ridiculous thing it boggles the mind how it can even exist in a western society
It took one of the bloodiest wars in history to end slavery in this country. yeah...
I just gotta wonder why they're so insistent on making sure the democrats win.
It took one of the bloodiest wars in history to end slavery in this country. yeah...
Well. It was only bloody because everyone was drunk as fuck.
They should team up with westboro, because if one of them gets taken out in a bomb that would mean both of them would.
Even though I disagree with almost everything in this quote, I do have to say that building up our military would help the economy greatly. It was what got us out of the great depression, going into war mode in WW2. What we need, however, is for these tea party assholes to be gone when we start, otherwise every single other country will crap their pants.
If we decided to build a couple of new carriers, thousands of workers would be hired for the shipyards. Thousands of employees would be hired for the steel mills that would provide the steel for the hull and various sub contractors would hire thousands. Do you know what that means?
No. Just, no. This statement reeks of stupidity and ignorance. Newport News in Virginia is the only shipyard in the United States able to construct nuclear aircraft carriers. Not only that, there's only one yard that has the facilities to construct them. And they've been building them, one at a time, around the clock, since 1975. And Phillips talks about new jobs, but the shipyard already employs a sizable chunk of the working population in the eastern half of Virginia, and indirectly a chunk of the U.S. if you count the production of the materials to build one. [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
It took one of the bloodiest wars in history to end slavery in this country. yeah...
And from the looks of things we're going to wage an even bloodier one to end stupidity. [editline]20th July 2011[/editline]
Well. It was only bloody because everyone was drunk as fuck.
It was bloody because they used classic infantry formations with semiautomatic weaponry.
I don't like Barney Frank, but that's completely insensitive and awful. That's like Democrats saying, "Let's throw a woman Newt Gingrich's way, and see if he drops out of the GOP nominee for a bit."
It took one of the bloodiest wars in history to end slavery in this country. yeah...
Whereas britain ended it with the stroke of a pen
You spelled education and healthcare wrong. Tea Party is such a ridiculous thing it boggles the mind how it can even exist in a western society
Well, to be honest Tea Party-style groups exist in some form in "Western" society and do sprout up in different forms. More often than not its a reaction of "Middle-Class" sections to perceived encroachment on their livelihood, usually manipulated by people above them and somehow getting people below them thrown into the mix too. I mean you just look at the 1990s with welfare spending and the "Contract with America", and it's pretty much the same thing the Tea Party is doing now. Like the "Moral" and "Silent" majorities before them. I do find it funny though that they're blaming Barney Frank for the bank meltdown.
I don't know what the Tea Party is complaining about with regards to military spending. America already has a ridiculously large industrial war complex and has a lower standard of living than most other MEDCs because of its atrocious healthcare. The US government spends a higher proportion of its GDP on healthcare than the UK, and gets worse results.
Well. We also have about 400 million people.
Instead of retiring a couple of aircraft carriers, what do you think would happen if the Obama regime decided to build a couple of new ones! (No, I’m not on drugs. I know Obama wants to destroy the American military. This is just a hypothetical)
So either they're lying, or they're stupider than we thought. [editline]21st July 2011[/editline] I mean fuck, even my dad who watches Fox News daily, has a copy of "Arguing for Idiots" on his shelf, has 13th amendment fridge magnets, and has to comment on how Obama is a terrible president and that the other news stations like CNN and CBS all have bias says we need to cut defense.

So who is Tea Party Nation, and why does this fair and unbiased website have such a hard on for them?
Barney Frank is my representative.
