Hell, our memes are incredibly cutting edge since most other memes are outright bannable. Our image macros are much better since a generic ones are banned.

The problem with a lot of internet memes is that you know the punchline before it happens, once you have seen one version of the meme, the rest become similar to the point of redundancy.

You know a meme by definition is something recurring and common in culture, right? You can't have a meme that is an inside joke between a small group of friends, because then it isn't a meme.
I understand what you mean though, before the meme is a meme, it is usually an inside joke. And that makes it funny because everyone using it fully understands the context and has memories of a possibly funny event/conversation.

As an occasional fast thread user, I've actually managed to zone out lmao pics from my brain. It's never there if I don't want to see it. If I want to find it I gotta look first at the way my life is headed. Then maybe consider alt-f'ing, but only under dire circumstances.

The thing with 'That Cat' is that it isn't massively overused, and it's a surprise when you see it posted.

I hate how meme-hating has now incapacitated people of saying phrases like "you don't say" or "if you know what I mean" without being rated boxes and having people call you "lol meme fag", even if what you said had nothing to do with memes but just happened to be one.
I don't like most memes, but some can be funny and meme hating is usually exaggerated.
The problem with memes is that they get used by places that deliberately exploit them and run them into the ground, if they came up in places casually people wouldn't get sick of them.
