Hundreds of protesters have attacked a bus station in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, setting fire to a bus and destroying cash and ticket machines.
Riot police responded with tear gas and at least six people were arrested.
Protesters were demanding free public transport. High transport costs triggered protests in Sao Paulo in June that later spread across Brazil.
The clashes came as President Dilma Rousseff announced a plan to improve public transport in the city.
Friday's protests began with a march through the city that lasted about three hours.
Violence erupted when a section of the crowd broke off and attacked a bus terminal in the city centre, police said.
Masked protesters, said to include members of the so-called Black Bloc anarchist group, set light to a bus and vandalised cash machines and ticket turnstiles.
At one point a police colonel was struck by a rock and had to be rescued by fellow officers, Brazil's O Globo newspaper reported.
As police moved in, protesters fled, setting up barricades in some parts of the city centre.

our police LOVES to beat the crap out of random people(like they did with teachers two weeks ago), and this "black bloc" is mostly a reaction to that.

black bloc is a tactic some people decide to use in protests. It's in no way, shape or form a cohesive group.

yeah, but like 99.9% of the brazilian black bloc is comprised of anarchists so... its safe to say they're anarchists(in brazil at least).
I've never understood anarchists. They hate the government, they hate banks. What exactly do they want? How exactly are trains supposed to be function and be constructed?
It doesn't help that Anarchist[or people who claim to be] protesters like destroying stuff.
The whole idea of of not having a government to maintain order also gives the idea of bandits wandering the countryside stealing from landless farmers.
yawmwen, what are you doing

there are countless different kinds of anarchism, i'm not quite sure which one these are to be honest through.
I wonder how the World Cup will go with all of this happening

oh, during the world cup they're gonna put the fucking army in the streets, like they did with the pan-american games before.
with that said, if shit gets too repressive(as in, someone fucks up, like what caused the massive june protests) and people are still pissed, it could explode, but really, this is an extremely unlikely scenario since brazilians are obsessed about football, it will probably go smoothly with at best very small protests.

you don't really know what you're talking about, our transportation system is mainly owned by a few families(rio's for instance is owned by a single family), protesting against the high prices(which are unfair), and being pissed at our police(which beats the crap out of you simply for being there) is understandable.
not to mention that these protests are less about the bus tariffs and shit and more about the rampant corruption that plagues everything in brazil.
also the federal government does give quite a fair ammount of cash to help fix the transportation system, but since our federalist system is so horribly burocratic, and several mayors are awfully corrupt(bought out by bus companies), the money doesn't get used, it simply... sits there unusued.

It will go ahead don't you worry, I mean sure the fan's and the player's lives may end up being put at risk but making any alterations would bring disrepute onto FIFA and we all know what a sinless blameless creature FIFA is!
