I'm surprised he never mentioned or showed footage from the Halo Legends version of the Forerunner and Flood war that ended with the creation of the rings. A couple of his ideas are actually depicted in them. As far as I'm concerned this is still the Forerunner/Halo origin story. 343's retcons to it got too weird for my tastes. One big plot hole I find with the Halo Universe is a very obvious one I think. The Forerunners cataloged and preserved intelligent life and then reseeded their worlds to begin anew. ... The Forerunners couldn't preserve themselves in the same way? Hell, the only one to survive that I know of is that stupid Diadact guy who is probably among the top 10 worst Video Game villains of all time.

Also, Forerunners didn't want to interfere with the galaxy after the Halos were fired. They left on a 'Great Journey' to another galaxy, all stated in the Halo 3 Terminals.
The remaining Forerunners subsequently exiled themselves, as, according to the IsoDidact, they were done meddling in the affairs of others.[31] This exile has also been referred to as a "Great Journey" by the IsoDidact, who wished to bear the record of the Forerunner civilization's failures and their ultimate sacrifice for future generations.[23] The Forerunners left the Milky Way, journeying to another galaxy where they spread their numbers thin, with the plan of allowing their species to die out in time. At least the IsoDidact and Chant-to-Green gave up advanced technology in favor of a simple, primitive lifestyle.[34]
From the Halopedia article on the Forerunners

Nothing in this video was really retconned so much as expanded on, most of which had already started happening by the time of Halo 3. Prior to the IRIS ARG and the Halo 3 Terminals Forerunners and Humans were one and the same, so something or someone fucked up and the Forerunners lost all their tech. Eventually in the Forerunner trilogy it's shown that the Array was activated after the Flood had nearly overrun the galaxy, the few that survived at the Ark didn't want to rebuild and left the galaxy. The Didact was locked away because he had been tortured by the Flood and driven insane, he was supposed to be helped by Precursor space-internet called the Domain in order to help Humans learn from the Forerunners' mistakes before another Flood invasion happened. Unfortunately because the Domain was Precursor it was a living thing it got fucked by the Halo array too so he went even crazier. As far as anyone knows there's probably more Forerunners somewhere in the galaxy, some meditating in Cryptums like the Didact, one guy is probably still stuck at the core of a gas planet tending his birds (wish I was joking) and with more than 600 shield worlds, some amount of Forerunners had to survive and probably didn't give enough of a shit to leave the safety of one.
