I got this idea earlier today, spent couple of hours in photoshop (3-4) and got this as a result!

Don't have anything more to say really - I just found some images in Google pics and welded them together using Shadow in layer properties, lots of layers and Brush.

Made another one about new testchambers, this time I tried the opposite - don't use any images at all.

Any tips on this one?
The texture quality doesn't match up. For example the bottom left corner texture looks really realistic and it doesn't match with the simplistic wall panels and shadow effects.
Dumbs? Oh wow. I just don't have anything to say... I bet you guys don't even imagine how much effort was put into this, and how much work you have to do to make it look like this.
This was made literally in 10 miutes + 5 miutes to edit in sony vegas. Just put a light and some props in a right place - get lots of artistics.

Work in PS till your eyes bleed, double check every pixel to make it perfectly fit - get boxes.
I made this and I think it looks super awesome and better than any other existing Portal 2 walpaper and I will stay with my opinion.

I thought it looks kind of okay.
Not bad for a wallpaper idea, but not anything I'd actually use.
Some spots look too polished while others look very rough, and as it has been said, the quality doesn't match.
You edit your pictures in Vegas?

Bad reading.
It's cool, but nothing mind-blowing.
You could have used some actual dirt texture for the left bottom part. Right now it looks like you just took one of the basic brushes and scaled it up.
It's also been said before that the areas are too diverse in quality/sharpness. For example, the same bottom left spot looks really off with that high-detail concrete and the pretty much featureless gray siding.
I like it but some of the drop shadows make it look weird.
Ultimately cool idea, not very well done.
You can clearly see where you used a brush/your brushing just doesn't look good.
dont like your drop shadows.
The materials you used all look like they are from different places, not one building.
and I HATE that graphitti attempt...
but I did not rate box as I feel this was more effort than most threads...

It's not my design.
And thanks to the guys who explained what exactly they didn't like in a calm way. I will do my best to improve.
I really like the idea/what you made, Just get rid of the whole portal thing. Could i have it in 1680x1050?
Yea honestly give this guy a break, you guys are so much different than the Gmod crowd. He did a great job with it, and the effort looks phenomenal. Although it does appear somewhat flat and simplistic, it still is very well-done and high quality. And lol to that guy who said the graffiti wasn't good.

I have two versions in the op. Just right-click and view image. It's in 1680x1050.
Fallen off block doesn't look that good, drop shadows are a tad weird and the portal 2 logo is too blurry. It's quite good though, I may use it as a wallpaper on my laptop.
Why are you breaking this down to how much effort that you put into it?
I'm kind of neutral to the image itself, as nothing I'm not really loving it or hating it. However, if the general community's opinion is that it looks bad you get dumbs, has nothing to do with how much effort was put into it. (Unless we're talking about filter rape)
Don't beg us to like it. Your overly-defensive douchiness makes me dislike it even more, and it's pretty bad to begin with.

Time doesn't enter into it. That video is artistic. It's an original idea and you executed it really well. Sometimes art is about coming up with a simple, unique idea.
Though making this picture may have taken more time and effort, you can't expect us to take that into account when we critique it.
I really like it. Prob gonna put it as my desktop right now. Though, it's not exactly "professional" quality.
Could you resize it to 12800 x 900?

Holy shit that's a huge resolution.

Eyefinity/ dual screen
And you need to make your wallpaper darker. It's too bright.
Made another one about new testchambers, this time I tried the opposite - don't use any images at all.

Looks like you just struck black ones on top and that's it.

On top of where?
overall just badly designed. it's not about the effort you put in. ultimately it's about the final product. if someone spends 5 seconds on something and shits out something better than your hard worked on stuff, what does that tell you?
you don't have an eye for design. it's that simple. you arrange things badly, among other things.
