• New Zealand youth addicted to legal highs protests against it, gets assaulted by other addicts
Each morning, 17-year-old Jesse Murray wakes on his cardboard mattress in Christchurch's hidden haunts and walks the streets, spitting into a white, bloodstained tissue before arriving at his destination. His days are dictated by the opening and closing hours of the nearest legal high shop. If he has the money, he will hand over anything between $25 and $80 a day - money he has begged for. "It is killing me," he says. "I don't want to live like this." Yesterday, Jesse's day was dictated by something else. He made sure that he turned out in Addington as part of a nationwide protest against legal highs. Dozens brought placards imploring the Government to legislate against all such substances. Jesse Murray was sleeping rough with his girlfriend, Jessica, in Addington but said since the story of his struggle became public he no longer felt safe. He said synthetic cannabis users who were upset with his portrayal of the drug had chased, assaulted and threatened to kill him and Jessica. ''People are so addicted they see a face in the paper and they direct all their anger toward me.'' Heh, a friends mother posted this on her facebook and my 'friends' immediately blamed him as an attention seeker and named him as someone who is unwilling to admit the fault his own, personally I'm not sure what to think in terms of addiction, but he in no way deserves that.
I feel as if this is grossly exaggerated.
Spice fucks you up man. I knew a guy who smoked it and killed the next door neighbor's dog.
Why haven't they banned it yet? If you're going to ban the safe, natural drug people want then you fucking better ban the dangerous synthetic alternatives teenagers can and do easily buy. People die from this stuff. It's not Marijuana and it definitely should not be sold to anyone let alone children and teenagers. I've followed stuff for awhile and if anything it tends to underplay the big news.
That stuff is no good for you. Some of the people I know either are or were in court ordered treatment and they turned to that stuff since they couldn't smoke weed anymore, and I gotta say it does some damage. I don't know exactly whats in it or what it does to your body but you definitely notice a change in people after they smoke it for a few weeks.
I feel as if this is grossly exaggerated.
it's really not, I know quite a few people addicted to these legal highs and it is fucking awful.
I feel as if this is grossly exaggerated.
Nah these legal highs are pretty messed up. Of course it depends on the kind, but some aren't that much different from any other addicting drug.
Smoked a legal high once, probably the worst experience of my life. Don't do it kids.
One of my friends took salvia once and told me about his experience. Apparently he was a hot air balloon. Not on a hot air balloon, actually a hot air balloon. He said he felt people walking inside of him. :v:

shit spice is worse than pot, though it probably isnt comparable to the legal highs in new Zealand, over here they bann them so quickly that they reformulate it constantly and its like a truly awful product that shouldn't be legal to begin with now that being said this kid needs help but you can't just continue doing such a destructive habitat, even if you are addicted to it, showing willingness to kick the habit is the first step
I've smoked some synthetic weed and salvia a few times, they're alright. Only really get them when there's no actual weed kicking about.
think taking a prescription drug and every time you go to the pharmacy the pharmacist puts a random medicine in each time
Synthetic weed is shit how do you build an addiction for that. Only legal "high" i even understand is dextromethorphan.
Synthetic weed is shit how do you build an addiction for that. Only legal "high" i even understand is dextromethorphan.
There's tons of decent or quasi-decent legal highs. Dextromethorphan, diphenhydramine (Benadryl), nitrous oxide, morning glory seeds, HBWR.
If you're going to ban the safe, natural drug
Ahh, I've said it before and I'll say it again; there is no such thing as a "safe drug". And no, being "natural" does not make it safe. Marijuana carries its own set of problems.
Marijuana carries its own set of problems.
Nah man.
Ahh, I've said it before and I'll say it again; there is no such thing as a "safe drug". And no, being "natural" does not make it safe. Marijuana carries its own set of problems.
Only problem I've encountered with it is the ritual of "Hey, remember all that shit you were going to do tonight? Well too bad, you're going straight to bed! But not until you've eaten an entire Red Baron pizza and a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch first!".
Instead of banning synthetics most of these cunts need to gather some responsibility and not smoke the shit like its going out of fashion. I'm only 16, but I have smoked synthetics before and I did regularly smoke synthetics last year/winter because dealers around town were quite dry but you cannot blame the drug because it fucks you up when you overuse it. Everything is good in moderation - yes it is a weird option to legalise the synthetic alternative rather than the natural herb, but the government can not be blamed for the choices of the selected few that choose to abuse the substance.

My point was that it's ridiculous to ban something that has been proven over time to not cause serious health issues in most people even with long term use and instead allow the purchase of a synthetic imitation that is far more dangerous as well as having completely unknown long term side effects. Spice/K2 is nothing but dangerous until we know more and should be banned even if MJ was legal.

Then fell asleep with the bowl right next to me in my bed. Red Baron and Cinnamon Toast Crunch is awesome, as long as you're not too high and bite into the pizza when it's boiling hot and burn the roof of your mouth.

Just hope there's no "forking" involved. I personally smoke once, maybe twice a week, just a single hit, and sometimes I take a break that lasts weeks between hits. I don't smoke at work (though many of my co-workers do, including my foreman), and I never smoke before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle.
anecdote time i remember this one time my dumb ass friend rocked up with some of this stuff and claimed it was over the counter weed. having smoked a much more tame herb over the counter once I dismissed it as being shit, but he insisted I try it. what followed was a full night of vomitting. not once did I not feel the urge to vomit. closing my eyes while on it was the most horrible experience I can imagine too, the gut wrenching sick feeling and the shit I was seeing. boy oh boy. don't smoke this shit.
He doesn't have to do it, he could be an alcoholic instead. It sounds like he just has an addictive personality and is not willing to admit to his own problems or address them. However there are definitely lesser evils, that carry their own set of problems and health concerns. Too much exercise is unsafe too, it's all about moderation.
Only problem I've encountered with it is the ritual of "Hey, remember all that shit you were going to do tonight? Well too bad, you're going straight to bed! Especially the cinnamon toast crunch, and only if the pizza is the fire baked crust.
Don't do drugs kids, they're mine, all mine.
Synthetic cannabis is bad shit, those substances has like no research around them other than what it took to manufacture them. Real cannabis wont ruin your life unless your life was shit to begin with.
