[release]Interpol has issued a "Red Notice" for the founder of the whistle-blowing website Wikileaks, Julian Assange.
It said the Australian was wanted for questioning in Sweden over an alleged sex offence, which he has denied.
The Red Notice does not amount to an arrest warrant. Instead, it asks people to contact the police if they have any information about his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, Ecuador's President Rafael Correa has said he did not approve an offer of residency made to Mr Assange.
On Monday, Deputy Foreign Minister Kintto Lucas praised the 39-year-old's investigative work and said he was welcome to live and lecture in the country "without any conditions".
But Mr Correa told reporters that the offer had "not been approved by Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino - or the president". Mr Patino said it would "have to be studied from the legal and diplomatic perspective".
Sweden turned down Mr Assange's application for residency in October. The Scandinavian country's laws protect whistle-blowers.
Earlier, Mr Assange filed an appeal with Sweden's Supreme Court in an effort to overturn a ruling by the Stockholm district court earlier this month that he be detained for questioning on allegations of rape, sexual molestation and unlawful coercion, stemming from a visit in August.
His petition was rejected by the Stockholm appeals court last week.
Australia is also investigating whether he has broken any laws there.
Mr Assange has dismissed the allegations as part of a smear campaign.
On Sunday, Wikileaks began publishing about 250,000 US diplomatic cables in a third major release of classified US documents. The first two concerned the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.[/release]
He might be at Sealand!

I think it would be much more effective if there was a prize
I didn't know he was Australian. I thought he was Swedish.

Australian citizen, applied for Swedish citizenship due to their strict extradition treaties (I think), was denied for allegedly raping some girls.
I read the charges in the papers. I was a bit suspicious. I think they came a bit too convenient when he had released the last big batch of documents something like a week before
Again...it seems like everyone but the US is going after this guy.

US is secretly pulling the strings
:ninja:
Wouldn't doubt the CIA paying the women to keep up the case to put the heat on him.
wow i didnt know he was australian
cool
Wouldn't doubt the CIA paying the women to keep up the case to put the heat on him.
I would...mainly because the CIA would find a way to fuck up. They usually do and thats why they got into a spat with the military because the military took intelligence into their own hands to save their own troops lives.
C'mon, really?
This is the biggest bullshit I've heard in an attempt to get him captured. At least be realistic.
omg i dint no that assange is rapist
He should go to new jersey. nothing there

I'm being neutral about it. It could be the governments doing this behind the scenes...or he really could be that much of a douchebag.

I take offense to that

My de facto response to anything regarding Assagne and the massive amounts of hate he's generating.
Brilliant idea governments, if you don't like what he's doing then go ahead and martyr him. :downs:
Not like theres a few million others that can do the same thing.
I'm waiting for Assange to release documents proving that they're framing him on Wikileaks.
Wouldn't THAT be perfect?
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Assange is the world's greatest irl troll.
And should be dealt with as such: Banned from real life.

That would make my month.

How convenient.

You already said this in another thread, and there you also were the only one saying this. Besides that, Palin proclaiming he should be hunted like a terrorist leader should be enough there. Its not like they'd make a COPS like TV show on Fox if they are planning to assassinate him.
The biggest problem I see with WikiLeaks is that there's no controlling who has access to that info. I'll bet you terrorists do use WikiLeaks. People who say that WikiLeaks in itself is a terrorist organization are dumb.
I'm fairly sure Assange has broken at least a few laws, but that's all he's done. Also, whoever's giving him the info within the US government should most likely be accused of treason (but they won't).
And then watch when he actually really did rape some girls and all the rebel teenagers who are like "lul us of a pulld stringz" get owned.
