Councillor Mike Layton moved a motion at council Thursday asking to extend the sale of alcohol to begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. That motion carried 37-4. These dates coincide with the final Olympic events, including the men’s ice hockey games. Because of the time difference between Toronto and Sochi, the men’s gold medal game is set to air at 7 a.m. (ET) on Sunday.

Mayor Rob Ford, who voted against the motion, argued that “it’s not fair” for nightclubs to be excluded from the motion. “You can’t have one cafe, one restaurant opening up, then having a club owner and say you can’t,” he said. “I just want to treat everyone equally, and that is not equally,” he said.
sorry, what part of NIGHT club is hard to understand, is it the NIGHT part
I didn't know there was a law that schedules alcohol sales.
I didn't know there was a law that schedules alcohol sales.
I'm pretty sure most countries have one.
Late by a couple days...
He's not a real Canadian
Late by a couple days...
then why didn't you post it?
Not as bad as Vancouver. Bars could open at 4AM but not serve alcohol. The fuck of a point is there to go to a bar with no booze?
I didn't know there was a law that schedules alcohol sales.
There are many states which don't even allow the sale of alcohol on saturday or sunday. Atleast that's how it was for a long time. I think Georgia changed recently.
argued that “it’s not fair” for nightclubs to be excluded from the motion.
you know there are other places to buy your crack at 7am like behind a 7-11 or on the interwebs and get it delivered
Can't wait for this national embarrassment to be replaced.
Did you guys not read? He just want it to be fair for all businesses rather then picking which to choose.
I'm pretty sure most countries have one.
I think as far as western nations go, those that do are in a minority. I can't really think of any but Finland and Canada
Fuck it, get rid of this asshole. I don't give a shit about the crack and whatever, but don't you tread on fucking hockey.
Fuck it, get rid of this asshole. I don't give a shit about the crack and whatever, but don't you tread on fucking hockey.
Can't tell if this is Canadian weapons-grade sarcasm or someone didn't read the whole post. Damn why are we so good at this?
I think as far as western nations go, those that do are in a minority. I can't really think of any but Finland and Canada
In my state (Illinois) they allow local municipalities to control the sale of alcohol. So In mine for example I cannot buy any form of alcohol from a store beyond 12 AM. Bars and other establishments like bars can sell alcohol through the night up until 4 AM.
Fuck it, get rid of this asshole. I don't give a shit about the crack and whatever, but don't you tread on fucking hockey.
Leave him there, give all his powers to the deputy mayor, that way we can lol at his antics and he cant hurt anyone. Forgot the most important part, WE CANT TELL HIM
Can't tell if this is Canadian weapons-grade sarcasm or someone didn't read the whole post. Damn why are we so good at this?
Now my comments are going to be in violation of the Geneva Convention, thanks.
Alberta was awesome, they were open at 5 am AND selling alcohol too. Was such a great day.
He only hates it because the leafs suck
I didn't know there was a law that schedules alcohol sales.
Yeah most places have a last call, generally 1-4AM. I guess it makes sense there's a "first call"
