To me it makes sense. The problem with my touchscreen laptop is that I have to take my hands off the keyboard to use it. It interrupts my typing, and is awkward to use full-stop in a lot of positions I'd use the laptop in, since there's nowhere to rest my arm when I'm using the touch screen.

This puts a touch panel where the F keys are, which is already in my typing muscle memory. I'm not going to buy the laptop because the pricing is ridiculous (and I use the F keys all the time), but this is genuinely a nice idea.

For comparison, I just bought a laptop with the same specs for 600. The only difference is that my laptop has a Kaby Lake i5 and a 950m.

Not to circlejerk too hard but Apple's prices are insane, especially since you can get virtually the same thing for a third of the price. The Macbook pro having MacOS is not an excuse because Hackintoshs are a thing.

ikr, theres also an argument to be made that these laptops are sacrificesing practicality for slimness since they have a habit of removing ports such as USB, charging and drives as well as battery size to reduce size while cramming everything into a smaller package also boosts production costs

And the thinness thing I don't get. There's never been a scenario where I've been glad that phones are so thin. When's the last time you heard someone say "oh thank God my laptop is so thin!". I get that it looks nice (i guess) and saves a little bulk in your bag but if you're sacrificing ports and other features just for LOOK ITS THIN!!! factor, it's not worth it at all
Personally it seems like a negative trait to be guaranteed broken if dropped/mishandled once

there really isnt much weight savings to be had anymore, i just upgraded from a dell i used for school which weighed like 10 lbs to an admittedly less spec'd out dell that weighs like 3 lbs. its not a special ultrabook or anything but i can carry that thing around for days without feeling it. i cant really imagine that i would want it much lighter though

To be fair, the touchstrip is pretty neat. But A) if the screen is already touch (and I don't know if it is) this would be pretty pointless and B) way to be beaten to the punch by at least [url=http://www.artlebedev.com/optimus/popularis/]five years[/url].

Though if the screen [i]isn't[/i] touch, that's honestly a neat little bit of extra functionality. Now whether it's worth an extra $300...
