The Problem
Brand new bathroom upstairs - so I don't have to go downstairs to pee.
The solution
A few things still need doing • Installation of shower (will get a real plumber to do this) • Installation of shower screen • Tiling shower area • Filling/painting • Casing in waste pipes • Fitting mirrors
Media
The pipe on the right needs to be cased in and hid. I'm going to put stud it in with a plasterboard case then tile over the top of it with the same tiles that are on the floor. The door frame still needs architrave and the door still needs the handle and lock fitting.
ETA
A month.

Against black tile, white actually looks pretty good. But I think gray would be a good color. [editline]4th March 2011[/editline]
k
why reply
I got my own bathroom en suite too, and the first time we connected the crane it came loose at 2AM, i woke up around 2.10AM (I live on the attic btw) and by then the water was already coming down the stairs through all ceilings. Everyone doing water should hire a professional. Electricity can be done by yourself easily
Yeah I've got a plumber coming to fit the shower because I don't really trust myself with that - being so close to electricity!
Yeah I've got a plumber coming to fit the shower because I don't really trust myself with that - being so close to electricity!
Besides there's a whole lot of regulations when it comes to showers close to that. So IF shit happens, the plumber is to blame.
What you need is a steel rivet gun and about 40 steel Rivets, also 10 rolls of duct tape. Set up the duct tape so that the tub is thick and double sided, use the rivet gun to keep that duct tape in place.

Uh Facepunch got a gardening section? Well uh cool I guess.
Boxed in the pipes today .. and tiled! The edge of the tiles are white though, so I'm going to either have to paint them or put some nice plastic cornering thing on if I can find anything. It's a small detail that I'm not too worried about right now though.
garry I need a new Garage door? since you're powering along with all this DIY lately, you wouldn't find it a problem?
garry I need a new Garage door? since you're powering along with all this DIY lately, you wouldn't find it a problem?
Oh god- Get a professional for that- My father used to run a company that installed them... Jesus christ people can fuck up so badly on that stuff.
Very fancy garry, yeah a plastic rail along the tilebox would do nicely. Have you thought about putting up a fancy wall decoration or are you determined with having white everywhere?
It's something that can be handled after all the other stuff is done.
Please make Tf2 bathtub stickers. I would think a millionaire like you would have an upstairs and a downstairs bathroom already.
Of course, I just thought you might have had some plans for it already. But yes you're right, you should focus on the other stuff now. You're working alone on the whole house right (well except for the need of professionals as with the shower)?
Yeah pretty much. My dad's a painter and decorator, so he sometimes chips in with some painting.
Did you buy all your things yet? I suggest www.bellabathrooms.co.uk if not. Really good prices and delivery is fair as well.
Yeah, I just need to get the shower screen now.. Doesn't look good in this photo, but I tiled the back of the shower. Which I found to be a lot easier than tiling the floor. Probably because I wasn't fighting against gravity. Got Sarah to do some cleaning up for me :0 And first filled all the holes too. I'm going to get some tile cleaner since I don't think anything I clean them with is working. I apparently should have sealed them before using them, so if they've got shitted up a bit I'm to blame. A bit more tiling, some grouting, the shower screen, the shower, some silicone, and painting - and it will be done :0
Remember, don't overdo on caulk or grout. For the white tile spaces, I would use black caulk. It will last and help keep the tile and place better than paint.
Those are some sharp-looking tiles, ditto the embedded ceiling lights. The skylights in the loft area are great, too. I've always wanted a house with a loft like that, it seems like such a great office area. Pop open the skylights for fresh air and a (hopefully) pleasant view.
Filled the gap at the end of the cupboards with some conti board. It isn't perfect, but I don't think anyone will notice. These sponges are holding it in place until the glue dries :v: This is the view I get when I'm pooping
If you put in a mirror above the sink all you'll be able to look at is your constipated-gurning face
Put a couple of tiles on.. And prepared to install the shower tomorrow.. My dad's coming to help me, because I'm terrified of water and electricity. Here's the guts of the shower. Installation is actually a lot easier than I'd have thought. My plumber was going to fit it but I've been waiting for him for a couple of weeks now, so fuck it. It's going in tomorrow.
you should get one of those toilets that sing songs and shoot lit up water up your ass
Got the shower in and tiled.. Here it is with the cover Just got to get rid of the dust now!
What in god's name is that circuitry-box thing
I'm guessing that box is the shower control. The dial controls temperature, and the button turns it on/off.
Yeah it's inside the shower.
You should've made a giant shower! It's going to look great though.
This is pretty huge, it's 1400mm by 900mm. I would have had a wetroom but the plumber made it sound like a lot of hard work.
Is the shower nozzle not in those pictures? Or is it intended to be attached to that black box?
