Neil DeGrasse Tyson makes for some pretty fantastic TV. (It's why the man deserves an Emmy, for heaven's sake.) But if you haven't been watching Gravity Falls, he's the reason you should start. Last night, the country's most prominent scientist (sorry Bill Nye) guest-starred on the show's Halloween episode as Waddles the Pig, but only after he'd eaten a bowl of brain-enhancing goo. Hijinks ensue from there, and the show's already brilliant and nerdy sensibilities are only enhanced by Neil's presence. This is a show you need to get into.
http://www.theverge.com/2014/10/5/6911037/neil-degrasse-tyson-voiced-a-cartoon-pig-last-night-and-it-was-genius small article but this show needs a bigger fan base.
That's cool and all but does the thread really belong here?
Okay? What is Gravity Falls and why should I care that much? I mean, celebrity appearances in shows is pretty common so..
Isn't that some Disney cartoon?
Fuck!! I don't like cartoons at all (except South Park), but this really caught me. Is he a regular recurring character? I might aswell watch it if he is.
Kinda belongs in the video section more than the news section I found this funny anyway, he's a good voice actor.

From what I heard Gravity Falls is a decent show from J.C. Quintel, aka Regular Show dude.
the country's most prominent scientist (sorry Bill Nye)
Are you fucking kidding me this rustles my jimmies a lot
From what I heard Gravity Falls is a decent show from J.C. Quintel, aka Regular Show dude.
No. Its a twin peaks inspired mystery/comedy show by Alex Hirsch (sp?). Its alright, I haven't watched it in ages though.
Are you fucking kidding me this rustles my jimmies a lot
Prominent literally means famous so that statement is arguably true.
Okay? What is Gravity Falls and why should I care that much? I mean, celebrity appearances in shows is pretty common so..
Disney cartoon that I'd say is really bad, but is somehow absurdly popular.
Generally its considered amongst the current line up of really good American animation from Adventure Time, Regular Show, Gravity Falls and few others. Its up there and it has a really active fanbase and the story's good too. I haven't watched it though.

It's a great show, I'd recommend it to everyone.
Neil was on the Big Bang Theory too.... doesn't mean I'm going to start watching it either.
Gravity Falls actually rules.
Gravity Falls actually rules.
Completely agree.
It's very surprising for a Disney cartoon, and a great show on its own. Take a show like Adventure Time or The Amazing World of Gumball, give it Disney's resources and animators, and you get a really well-polished cartoon full of style and heart. Watch the first episode at the very least (or the episode in the OP). It's worth trying out.
It's an amazing show, I highly recommend it. Kirsten Schaal and Alex Hirsch are amazing in their respective roles
I don't know if any one-off Tyson role can beat that time he was on Stargate Atlantis.
I don't know if any one-off Tyson role can beat that time he was on Stargate Atlantis.
link link link plz plz plz
I don't know if any one-off Tyson role can beat that time he was on Stargate Atlantis.
Bill Nye was there too.
Gravity falls is an aesthetically beautiful wonderfully timed expertly written and fucking hilarious show. It's the best thing Disney ever put out since Pulp Fiction (by proxy) it's an exaggeration but it's prolly some of the best shit on tv right now
link link link plz plz plz
Here you go.
Bill Nye is such a fucking bamf
So is NDT the richest scientist in the US? Because scientists don't make money from US grants so they have to make their money from elsewhere(teaching) At least that's how it is for anthropologists, they don't make any money from going on government funded digs. They have to do it for the sheer love of it.

They all do alright, but to have a lot of money as a scientist you probably need to write a book.
The fanbase is shit actually, like most are. Most of it is on tumblr. This show is so overhyped.
