http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8255729.stm The first video advert inside a print title has been published inside the American magazine Entertainment Weekly. The small screen, built into a cardboard insert, contains an advert for Pepsi Max and trailers for US TV network, CBS. There are also in-built speakers, so the viewer can hear the advert too. "This is an extraordinary way to refresh how we interact with consumers," said Pepsi-Cola's chief marketing officer, Frank Cooper. Chip technology is used to store the video - described as similar to that used in singing greeting cards - which is activated when the page is turned. The slim-line screens - around the size of a mobile phone display - also have rechargeable batteries. Each chip can hold up to 40 minutes of video. [...] Read the rest on the news site, no screenies for you tho. This is still quite an advancement tho. I guess it'll get better and cheaper down the road. TECHONOLOGY'S CALLIN':buddy::buddy::buddy::science:
it should have been in some science or technology magazine, advertising screens in magazines
Like that guy said its too bulky.
Isn't this why we have tv?
It would be fun to mod this.

Why don't they just sell PDAs?
Personally I think this is stupid, Lume.
Personally I think this is stupid, What if they charge us like 50 dollars for a magazine?
Then you don't buy it and they're forced to bring the price down. That's capitalism, and it's what makes the good ol' US of A so great :911: [editline]06:28PM[/editline] This post you have edited
Be funny if Porn somehow found it's way onto this.
This thread was made before. BACK. IN. TIIIIIME
Yeah but this is it actually being used rather than people saying 'Its coming and its going to knock your socks off!' Yeah a screen the size of matchbox with a tinny speaker bound in card is going to change magazines 4EVA!
Rechargeable batteries? Awesome, now I'll be able to watch my favorite ads over and over again.:downs:
too bulky. makes the mag annoying because the shit practically turns into a hardcover book with that cardboard. Now if they used OLEDs and made the screen bendable and shit then it'd be cool.
It would be fun to mod this.
Turn the page in your terrible magazine and BAM meatspin.
This is a stupid idea. It makes the magazine cost more, generates unnecessary electronic waste and is inconvenient as it makes the magazine bulky and un-flexible, it is a total waste of resources.
40min porn video
If you didn't want to read a magazine full of distracting video adds you could just roll the paper up, crushing the screens :D

Back in time :ninja: FUCK NINJA'D

You're not fucking funny. That video stopped being funny after the first time.
Most retarded idea ever, it's just pushing more ads into one paper but at the cost of rising prices on the papers, more uncomfortable(the paper gets bulky and heavy) etc.
This thread was made before. BACK. IN. TIIIIIME
Think it was me who created it lol.
People still read magazines?
People still read magazines?
Yeah, people actually read. Hard to believe, right? Reading is ghey. fight teh powah.
I can see how this can get annoying. Imagine reading a magazine on a quiet airplane when all of a sudden... "DRINK THE ALL NEW PEPSI!!!!!!" starts poring out of the tiny speaker instantly waking half the plane up.
Oh cool. There's an NCIS spin-off advert in that BBC video. Didn't know there was going to be one. :)
