CONWAY, S.C. — Dash cam shows a DUI suspect crash his SUV into a trooper's patrol car, lighting it on fire upon impact.
Allen Jackson Goodman, 40, of Troy, N.C., fled police when he was pulled over last week, according to the Sun News. Police said they chased him at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour before the crash.
As the trooper's car burned, other Horry County police officers who were in the area pursued the suspect, and the trooper escaped without any major injuries, sources said.
Goodman was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and failure to stop, sources said. He is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Investigators said they are unsure why or how the trooper's car caught fire.
I guess you can say he was in hot pursuit.
kinda cool to watch the windshield melt like that, glad the cop made it out Ok.
I did not know windshields melted so quickly.
Hoping for the officer's welfare and good health withstanding, that is one HELL of a camera!
What's with all the cop stories lately? Seems as if people are going after them specifically.
It's one poster. They are all pro-cop stories too, I think he's trying to push his agenda.
Godly camera.

I post the stories on here because of the lack of variety and balance in this place. Most of everyone's news stories comes from Fox, NBC, or ABC (all national stations) but, no one ever sees the other side of society. The people who do their jobs so that you can drive to work safely.
So it looks like he was the lead car attempting to clear the way for the SUV and got rear-ended?
If that is the case, I can tell you why it lit on fire. Crown vics have their gas tank in the trunk. Rear end them hard enough and they ignite. This is a well known and well documented issue with crown vic police interceptors (Civilian variants don't have the same issue).

The fire looks like it started in the front though, I was thinking maybe the fuel line snapped or something.

Except a bird landing on a car next to a pinto was enough to make the gas tank go off.
