• Guns have taken away all the honor and nobility of war

It seems like guns have taken away all the honor and nobility of war. Where once it was heroic knights valiantly engaged in hand-to-hand fighting for their King or Queen, now it's just illiterate peasantry shooting each other from hundreds of metres away. No more strong castles and legendary sieges. No more Lords of the Realm on great horses charging headlong into the enemy. No more legendary swords made by master craftsmen. Sigh. War has lost all its Romance.
How much AoE 2 have you been playing
War was never noble.
war was never honorable. [editline]10:12PM[/editline]
War was never noble.
:smith:
Stop playing oblivion. Freak.
Yeah guys, Lets go back to swords and Knifes. Lets also force peasants to fight and people can loose their arms and legs just for our honor.
The people fighting wars may have thought they were honorable, but in the end, they're just murdering other idiots with the same idea.
hot DAMN
The Last Samurai. Boom.
Plenty of romance.
War is much too serious a matter to be entrusted to the military
War could be noble? You call the deaths of hundreds of people noble?
Oh what a lovely romanticised view you have there. War was always brutal, the illusion of fairness you're seeing never existed and armies consisted of scores of men forced into the army to suffer then die gruesome deaths of the battlefield. Modern weapons have probably decreased the death rates in war by a fuckton. Great face-to-face battles would result in hundreds of dead left out in a field to rot. Also knights were a tiny fraction of a medieval army, it would mostly consist of hastily armed 'illiterate peasantry' except in those days those men would never return home.

1. Most wars of old were fought by illiterate peasants. 2. You fail at grammar, spelling, and history. (AKA you type like an illiterate peasant) 3. Get out.
I would rather be shot than sliced
War is nothing to be proud of. Go read All Quiet on the Western Front.
War used to be honorable, but guns have nothing to do with it. It's society, and it evolves, changes, so currently war is revealed as bad so the people who do war nowadays usually suck. Let's take old Japan, the samurai, or the knights in England that fought for honor, or the Romans, Greeks, etc. War was used to settle differences, for God (65% of the time this), or fun. Differences: People had done this for ages, most battles were 1-on-1 and 60% of the time no one died. Let's say it's like a bar-fight, we get drunk and have a fit, so what? This was what it was like back then, and it was common. God: This is probably the most popular cause, when a book made by someone who talks to themselves is read the wrong way they kill for the book, or use the book to kill for themselves. Fun: The Romans are the perfect example for this, they had giant arenas (coliseums) for this very purpose, people bet on each fighter and death was the prime entertainment of the day. Later, in early England, when death penalties were carried out people amassed to see the show, they brought children and the criminals were like movie stars (until they died of course). This was all deemed honorable one time or another in the worlds history, but times have changed.
Anyone watch Deadliest Warrior last night? It was Mexico Aztecs vs. African Zande The Zande had this badass giant boomerang thing with a giant dick blade on it, balls and all.
Killing another man for a politician is never something to be proud of, nor is it noble or honorable to kill a man forced to fight a war no one wants.
The point of life is to move foward no backwards. You dont see people running like in Lord of the Rings or Oblivion with swords and shit because its OUTDATED. What war is, is to settle things. But war never changes between humans, its just the things we use to help us "win the war."
Nor is war romantic at all aside from the fact war practically saids to you and your girlfriend lets make babies
fuck swords man lets use sticks!
War changes, and with it, so does tactics and the men who fight it. From peasants, to kids fresh from high school. But never, the old man behind the desk.
How. About. uhh no

If you've actually studied Roman history there have been several occasions where there was no Triumph.

People have more fear and since the invention of guns the crime rate world-wide has dropped (except Africa, it got worse). The faster you win the war the less people die. Guns have helped in every aspect accept the world wars, which were tragic in their own 'special' way.
OP is a weeaboo
Ehem what. If you've actually studied Roman history there have been several occasions where there was no Triumph.
What do you mean exactly? If they lost, well everyone was a sore-loser. But how much is what honor tells us.
