Quentin Tarantino assembled his “The Hateful Eight” team for a panel at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday.
During the panel, Tarantino announced that legendary film composer Ennio Morricone will write the score for “Hateful Eight,” marking his first Western score in 40 years. Morricone is best known for his innovative music for the Spaghetti Westerns, particularly “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.”
Well that's just the best possible thing for a Western movie to have going for it. The best Spaghetti.
When did Hateful Eight get un-canned.
Last I knew Tarantino basically said he wasn't doing it.

he announced that he re-wrote the script like not even 3 months after it got leaked and he lost his mind over it.

FOUNTAINS OF BLOOD.
FOUNTAINS.
Man that poster looks awesome, I can't wait to grab one from work.
First Western he's scored in 40 years. I'm expecting Once Upon a Time in the West-tier greatness.
Ennio Morricone is just the king of western music. I love his shit so much I listen to this during takeoff whenever I'm on a plane.
Kinda hilarious considering when they worked on Django Unchained, Morricone got pissed at Tarantino for not having "musical coherence", and also vowed to not work with him again.
Considering Tarantino has said that he doesn't allow composers to score his films because it's giving them too much power, I'm sure Morricone made an exception.
Absolutely great news.

Tarantino has already used the guys work so much to the point where he practically already has scored most of his films. But yeah, that being said, music can drastically alter how a scene is received by the viewer and he'd want a tight hold on the process.
Awesome news, I'm super pumped for this film.
Kinda hilarious considering when they worked on Django Unchained, Morricone got pissed at Tarantino for not having "musical coherence", and also vowed to not work with him again.
Except they didn't worked together. Tarantino tried to work with Morricone during the production of Inglorious Basterds, but because of scheduling it didn't happened, so Tarantino used his track from Revolver and some other films. Morricone didn't liked that, because every song he writes is written specifically for one film, and according to him "stealing" music like that is absolutely wrong.
And then when there was a production of Django he was still pissed saying that he didn't cared for it, because there was too much blood or something like that.
So looks like we're in for a treat now.
Apparently he did the composition for The Thing too which I never knew.
I fucking love the soundtrack to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Probably one of the best of all time.
Ennio Morricone isn't the only good itallian spaghetti western composer, in fact theres several that are nearly just as good, like Luis Bacalov and Marcelo Giombini.
Ennio Morricone kind of established it though and his skills go beyond western films.

I am a big comic book fan, but this one is easily the most exciting news from this year's SDCC.
He's one of (for me the only) best film composers of all time, no debate here. I'd wish to hear him live just once. He does tours now and then.

He was completely right.

Doesnt make it a bad score though, the music always felt appropriate for the scene regardless of coherence.
I never realized how prolific this guy was. I was just watching Days of Heaven and you never would have guessed it was the guy who did Good Bad and Ugly.
