Teen Battling Cancer Asks Taylor Swift to High School Prom - Get's invited to the Academy of Country
Kevin McGuire, a Stratford teen battling cancer, asked Taylor Swift to be his date for the prom on June 1. The busy singer replied with a message on her Facebook that read, "Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM (Academy of Country Music) Awards are coming up. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor."
McGuire, 18, is currently being treated at a Philadelphia hospital for leukemia a second time, and gladly accepted the exciting offer. He said the ACM, held in Las Vegas, is "a lot better than the senior prom."
However, he also acknowledged, "I'm sick and I'm not sure if I'm able to."
The prom date idea started after Kevin's older sister Victoria created a Facebook page intended to catch Swift's attention, but unexpectedly reached 60,000 supporters by Thursday night.
Then again the guy has cancer
Seems like it's starting to be a trend of creating facebook pages for sick young people to meet stars.
Nothing wrong with this really, I think it's really cool seeing the celebrities take notice and spend time with some fans.
Someone remind this kid that he's not missing out on a goddamn thing with regard to prom and to go to the ACMs instead. At least there he may get a show from Kanye.
I went to an award show with a celebrity once. I cant remember anything, just alot of stains on my boxers.
Someone gimme cancer so I can be Taylor's date

Yo, just thought I'd remind you that he could be missing out on the rest of his life.
My little brother- Kevin McGuire- was first diagnosed with Leukemia ALL when he was 13 years old and was in the seventh grade. He fought the battle of his life.. undergoing years of chemo, digesting over 35 pills a night, hundreds of spinal taps, and numerous bone marrow screenings.. and ultimately won his battle with cancer on April 24, 2010. All through out Kevin's treatment he kept his character in tact, remained playing basketball, and even started varsity football as a freshman. Kevin is known through out the community as the High school's "real life SUPER MAN!" Tragically, Kevin had a relapse, and is now fighting cancer for the second time. Kevin is the kindest, most noble 18 year old a person could even fathom meeting, and through out his ups and downs Kevin never even questioned " why me?" Nothing, and I mean NOTHING brightens Kevin's day more than Taylor Swift. Kevin DESERVES more than anyone a special event in his life.. and the one thing he wants is to GO TO PROM WITH TAYLOR SWIFT! Let's make this happen people! TAYLOR PLEASE GO TO PROM WITH KEVIN!!!!!! NO ONE DESERVES IT MORE! PS PROM JUST SO HAPPENS TO FALL ON HIS BIRTHDAY!
You clearly didn't read because he had a relapse and is battling it again.

he had a relapse, finish reading what you quoted
Sucks for him. I hope he makes it for the second time. Maybe Taylor Swift will give him enough spirit to pull through :)
Is it weird that if I had cancer I'd rather ask a Valve tour and visit gaben rather than invite female stars to proms?

Everyone has different tastes. I'd rather take the valve tour as well.
Since when is there an academy of country music?
remind me to never study there

No it's not weird, it's an opinion thing.
I'd go with the girl.

It's not an actual academy.
Also Valve tours are pretty easy to get in I gathered.

"I'm going to let you finish Kevin, but Lance Armstrong had one of the best cancer battles ever!"

Taylor Swift pisses me off but I guess she isn't a terrible person.

Country sucks and can go to hell. Blues is the best thing to come out of the south and is true suffering music.
