Wot I think: For God's sake, spell it correctly.
Seriously, it was ok for the first time, but now that intentional misspelling is irritating me so much...
Do they need every single article about major games to have it?
Crysis 2 isn't linear, what the hell is he talking about.
Mass Effect & Dragon Age aren't linear, Crysis 2 story is totally linear with non-linear combat options.

Hahahaha.
I like how he mostly concentrated on what he likes without glorifying.

You know Wot I think, I think we shouldn't care so much.
Good article.
Meh, crysis 2 looks alright and the demo was fun, but I'm not getting it for awhile.
Cod= linear, you get the objective, and can only do it that way. you can only fail by being killed.
Crysis2= NOT linear, you get an objective, you can do it in your own way, run and gun, stealth and assasinate or snipe. You can fail in several ways, like for instace jumping off a cliff.
I agree with him. I'm stealthing it up as I kill people in crysis 2. I'm impressed. I wouldn't give it the game of the year.
I'm having tons of fun in multiplayer though, whenever I can find a working server :v:
I've heard that it's not that amazing as it's made out to be, but I've only watched videos, plus I haven't downloaded the demo yet.

That's still linear. The method of getting from A - B is a single path, the way you kill enemies is irrelevant.
Decided to pick it up today, caved after seeing a bunch of friends playing it. I'm really enjoying it so far. It's better than the first one, I can say that much, and the first one was probably my favourite FPS ever (not saying much, there's no FPSes anywhere near my top 10)
I got it a few days ago, so far I'm really enjoying it. When I started playing it, I thought that it was too consolized, and that it wasn't as good as the first crysis. But now I'm a few more hours into it, I'm really enjoying it. It might match - if not be better than - the original Crysis.
Though there's definitely a few bugs that need fixing. Like, I snuck up behind a guy and stealth killed him, stepped back and saw that his head had somehow wedged itself into a fence that he was standing in front of. And there was a certain scene where a guy died while holding a cool weapon that I can only assume I was supposed to use, but for some reason the game didn't let me pick it up. Which sucked.
The game is ok so far but I can see it getting boring really fast :/
It would be nice if I could stop getting network connectivity errors when I try to log in.

Shut up nerde.
Seriously why the hell do you care so much of a word that's intentionally spelled wrong.
The game is ok so far but I can see it getting boring really fast :/
You mean like nearly every other FPS game?
Of course it will, every game gets boring eventually... especially when it's linear.

Then all games are linear. Except for games like RPGs, RTSs, etc. By that logic, Half-Life was linear because you went from point A to point B while solving a puzzle or exploring a little. If you just walked around the level choosing what path to go to, you wouldn't finish the game because each level had one entrance and one exit. Crysis was linear by that logic. You walked through an expansive map from point A to point B. Not all linear games are bad.

Correct!
Nonlinear games = Fallout series, GTA series, SimCity, Gmod
Linear = Half-Life, Super Mario... you get the point.

That's pretty much the definition of linearity in games. A level which has only one entry point and one exit point where you follow a predetermined path to said exit point. games like Fallout don't tell you how you're supposed to get to your quest, etc. but Crysis 2 has that clearly set out, and going through a different building doesn't count for shit.
I just finished the campaign a few hours ago and good god my head still hurts from the sheer sensory overload.
I don't see why the story's getting so much hate from reviewers, granted it's hardly going to win any awards but I felt genuinely interested (and impressed) by Crytek and Morgan's efforts creating the story for C2. I empathised with his notes on the characters though, voice acting is competent, but this isn't one of those games where the characters stand out all that much.
I'm even more impressed at the fact that I can run this shit at 1280x748 (or something like) on extreme settings with no noticable FPS drop (until the last few levels at least where shit got real heavy, but it was never anything major). Imo, Crytek have outdone themselves in terms of the Cryengine 3, it looks magnificent, and best of all, we can actally see it in its full glory this time!

I strongly disagree,
Cod = linear, you have an objective and there is one way to get there most of the time.
Crysis 2 = linear, you have an objective, and sometimes different ways to get there.
GTA IV = non-linear, you can choose objectives in-game , and do objectives in the order you please rather than a sequential mission selection. You can get from A-B in any way you want, without any restrictions.
the whole 'dicking around' argument isn't really relevant imo, because you can also wander the 'streets' in crysis 2, with more limitations, but you can still do it.
how you play is irrelevant to a linear vs non-linear game. You can play CoD in a 'stealthy' manner and such, doesn't mean it's linear.
Crysis 2 isn't open but it isn't really linear either. In games like CoD you literally walk down corridors but in Crysis 2 there are many ways of dealing with enemies. Sometimes I can just stealth my way through an entire area without anybody noticing,

Dicking around != non-linear.

crysis was much less linear than the sequel but I'd still call it linear, since you've always got a fixed objective, just different ways to get there
now a game like X3, that's non-linear
oh no it's technically linear so i can't enjoy it

half life and crysis are linear, not that it's a bad thing unless it's taken to its logical extreme, like call of duty
