Also, I'd rather have something dumb that appreciates me than a prick of a cat that just wants me to provide for it. If you can't tell, I prefer dogs over cats, but I do love cats. I just love other people's cats.

I have an entirely different perspective.
In my lifetime, there have been lots of dogs which are angry/wild that I've seen, but many that are sweet and dumb.
But the only mean cats I've ever seen are ones portrayed in books/movies/etc. I have yet to have any problem with cats and I haven't seen much of what people talk about, other than cats avoiding you/not liking you when you're a stranger to them.
