Here are a few pictures I took and edited in Photoshop to make them look like Zombies. Yes, even an apple. I know they have some dense filtering, but I think that the bleach bypass and high structure helps the whole effect, plus the scars look more realistic with the filters.

I agree actually, I don't think I did the bleach bypass, I also forgot to desaturate his face and stuff, he's got too much tone. Regardless, I think the scars and wounds turned out the best on him. It's hard to paint on the wounds to a light surface and have them look somewhat convincing.
I can barely see one scar. Most of them look like a skin disease :)
That apple looks terrifying.
