TOKYO - Take-out pizza chain hiring. Aged over 18, no experience required. Uniform provided. Salary: $31,000 an hour.
As part of a series of events commemorating the 25th anniversary of its arrival in Japan, Domino's Pizza Japan is set to hire one lucky person at the rate of 2,500,000 yen ($31,030) for an hour's worth of work in December.
A company spokesman declined to provide further details until November 10, but the company's website said that anyone who wants the job will need to file an application. Those passing to the next stage will undergo an interview.
"Basically it's anybody over 18, no questions about education or experience," the spokesman said. "We're actually a little surprised by how much of a response it's getting."
Hourly pay for part-time jobs in Japan averages just under 1,000 yen ($12.41).
Many of the comments on a Japanese article about the offer noted that the salary was cheap for the probable advertising impact and that there might be better uses for the money, such as raising workers' pay overall.
"If I got this, I couldn't work for being afraid of what the people around me were thinking," one wrote.
In another of the promotions, anyone born on September 30 this year -- the actual date the first Domino's opened in Japan -- will receive a free pizza on their birthday until they turn 25.
dude
what
what
dude
They should do that here in America.

So wait, are they being hired permanently for this? Or are they only going to have the job for an hour?
I think for one hour
not sure really
it's one hour of work
"We're actually a little surprised by how much of a response it's getting."
Surprised?! That's a lot of money for one hour.
Shit.
Free pizza on your birthday every year? I'd love that.
it's actually a very smart ad campaign. If they had just offered a $31,000 prize it wouldn't have got this much attention, but by associating it with a generally low paid job, they're getting tons of attention.
The lucky winner will be filmed being gang-raped by old men on a bus while wearing a Dominos uniform. That's how advertising works in Japan.
brb going to Japan.
on a serious note: the work must be hard for them to pay that much money, despite it being an hour worth of work.
brb going back to japan
So it's basically a competition to win $31,000 and the ability to work in Dominoes for an hour.
No, It's a competition to work in Dominoes for an hour and get payed $31,000.
Shit.

Especially the new Dominoes pizza. Why don't they do stuff like that in America?
And after 45 minutes
"You're a slacker, Davis. You're fired, get out of here!"
And after 45 minutes
"You're a slacker, Davis. You're fired, get out of here!"
"But do I still get paid for the 45 minutes? :ohdear:"
"No."
Dammit, my birthday is September 30. To think if I was born 18 years later, I'd get free lackluster pizza until I was 25.
no matter where Domino's is, their pizza is still shit

That's still a lot of money for one hour. I wish I got that much.
