The album this comes from actually grew on me a lot. I wasn't convinced at first. Pretty dope video, too.

The album is crazy great. I don't see them ever topping ...Like Clockwork, but if they continue to put stuff as great as Villains out, I'll be happy. Hoping they do a music vid for Hideaway, Un-Reborn Again, or Fortress(or all!).
Saw them live last month, great show but i really think royal blood as the opener stole the show.
Mark Ronson producing this right?
some heavy 60's vibes in this, Ronsons always worked with such great bands!
It sounds more like Eagles of Death Metal than QotSA. Which is fine if you want a fun party rock album, but it's nothing compared to the haunting masterpieces of Rated R, Songs for the Deaf etc.
It doesn't feel like Queens to me, it's just Josh Homme and friends.
Saw them last night at the SSE in london. Amazing show!
Phone got nicked though which somewhat ruined things :/
My boy Jon Theodore on drums! For anyone who doesn't know, this guy is one of the greatest players out there and you would hardly be able to tell from him here. The stuff he did for The Mars Volta was absolutely groundbreaking and I'm glad he has some sort of spotlight now!

I didn't even know Homme was in the Eagles of Death Metal until just now lol, was he present during the Bataclan attack? Gonna have to look into them since everything Homme has a hand in turns to gold(Post Pop Depression being another example).
he wasn't there during the bataclan attack but he was frantically trying to find ways to get jesse out of the situation and supporting everyone there emotionally
After reading up on it, I'm surprised that the entire band made it out unscathed(except the band's merchandise clerk, who was sadly killed).

for real jon is fucking incredible
even though i like a lot of this album, song-wise, i was kinda disappointed that the first album he got to play on is probably the band's least complex in terms of percussion (even though his playing is super tight here and there's still a lot of neat stuff). qotsa's been kind of a revolving door band in terms of drummers so hopefully he stays long enough to get a chance to fuckin shred

i heard that a shit ton of people got their phones stolen at that show, apparently there was some kind of ring involving 10+ people who worked together to shove people around while another guy swiped their phone

He's a damn good drummer, very tight in his playing, but I wouldn't really call him ground-breaking.

You could argue they didn't. Jesse got totally emotionally fucked up for it and has been making remarks in public that indicate an impacted regard of Muslims... Much like American Korea-war veterans on Korean-americans.
That experience hit him fucking hard. I can't even imagine.
Edit:
Some french club. (might even be the Bataclan itself) has banned EODM from playing there due to said remarks. But after seeing the Vice interview afterwards, i just can't see any harm in his reaction. Guy was witness to a warzone in a barrel for christ sake.

Oh true, I didn't take the psychological impact into the equation. I can't imagine the psychological toll from being involved in something that horrific would ever get better...

It really doesn't help that he seems to be fragile already. He talks about EODM and Josh as if they're his one and all. Josh and his friendship seems like a collossal part of why he feels good about himself and his work. It's pretty obvious that Jesse doesn't think highly of his own merit and really is looking at Josh as a cross between a mentor and an older brother.

Imagine struggling with your self-image like that and then being in this situation and reacting to it and then said reaction results in the venue of the attacks barring you from future entry. That's also such a fucking weird thing to do. Literally bagging on a guy with obvious PTSD for saying shit directed at the "kind of people" that perpetrated that shitfest in front of his eyes.
It's true that it's not cool to say racist shit. But it's also not cool to shit on people dealing with such shock just because they're still getting over it. For some reason, i just feel endless recentment to the ones dogging on him and only really sympathy towards him. People just have no respect for what coldblooded mass-murder can do to a witness. everything just has to stay PC at all times! people with PTSD always deal in stereotypes. It's literally what PTSD does to people. It triggers previous experiences when dealing with similar (and sometimes wholly dissimilar situations afterwards.) I really think Tumblr PTSD killed peoples respect for real PTSD.

Saw them at Manchester last night, my phone got nicked too. There's been some organised pickpocketing using the moshing as a chance to get hands in people's pockets going on. It's fucked up. Shame, because they were fucking awesome.
Read an article and I'm fairly sure this is the same thing. Venues need to start putting up warnings or telling people to consider leaving their phones out of it, people are there to have fun, not to be on guard watching for some fucker trying to pickpocket them.

Yep, this is a huge part of why so many celebrities end up having mental breakdowns, or worse. We as a society love being judgmental, and in many cases cruel, and since those in music, movies, etc, are all front and center in our society; they tend to catch the brunt of our cruelty. I can't really ever see myself ever turning a blind eye to racism, but I can absolutely understand why the whole situation skewed him towards it.
From what I've read, Homme is a mix between being mostly Liberal, with some Conservative leanings, but he's never said anything racist before; so if Jesse does look up to him that much, I'm sure he'll come around and stop heading down a path of racism on his own.
It's funny because in the 30s to the 70s. Musicians were just other people to most. It was the background entertainment at a club or a cruise or the back-up of an act. It was already changing slowly thanks to Sinatra, Cash and others. but the Beatles generation of fans really fucked this up big time. We know Sinatra and Cash were able to be people for good and bad and not be held accountable when kids started acting out. Sinatra especially really was involved in some shady fucking shit that just wouldn't fly today and he was insanely socially regressive as well. When the concept of fanatical fans en masse became a core part of popular music, all of that ability to be normal, flawed and sometimes douchebaggy humans just went bye bye.
I honestly couldn't stand being famous for that reason. People need to be free to be scumbags or saints in silence and deal with their own shit without the whole world looking on in judgement. As far as i'm concerned, Bieber kan piss in all the buckets he wants.
