Activision Blizzard, which makes the Call of Duty and World of Warcraft series
What?
they are also axing true crime
bad games but I'll miss them anyway, they were fun at sleepovers and the like
I love guitar hero, but there is only so many things you can do before you are just re-releasing the same product over and over again
The Guitar Hero series has been falling in quality ever since Harmonix left it. I'm glad to see Rock Band won out in the end, but I can't help but feel a bit sad since Guitar Hero is what started my music game craze.
I also can't help but note that they kind of did this to themselves - the music game market got flooded with Guitar Hero's constant multi-platform releases. Activision totally ran it into the ground. A shame, really.
Oh well, rest in peace, Guitar Hero. Hopefully Rock Band doesn't follow and also succumb to the recent low point in music game popularity.
Tony Hawk should follow shortly as well.
Tony Hawk should follow shortly as well.
It already did.
I'm honestly not surprised.
Guitar hero was just another fad IMO
It already did.
It's not officially axed yet.
then it's just Call of Duty which at this point is an unknown quantity with all the seat changes and possibly Prototype (but again another unknown), if Blizzard and Activision hadn't merged they'd be in deeeep shit.
but they did, so they have Blizzard to bail them out with WoW, Diablo III, and what ever that new MMO is they're making.
Good, it's a horribly over milked franchise.
Well gee, when you have 50 billion games that only offer different songs only having the 3-4 first games actually add new stuff and change parts of the gameplay, then it's quite obvious that you'll lose out in the long run. Especially with so many band focused ones, you super-narrow down your audience since the game more or less only contains song from one fucking band.
If the games had more good metal songs, I'd honestly be more interested in them.
The only music game I've gotten is Rock Band Beatles, because my dad wanted it (he loves the Beatles).
I use the guitar controller to play all the metal songs I have (over 10 gigs worth now) in Frets on Fire.
I have over a dozen Opeth songs alone. :smug:
What?
It's kinda obvious what it means.
Activision Blizzard has revealed that other games it's cutting will include DJ Hero and True Crime.
Goddamnit why
I wish Activison and Blizzard didn't merge so we could all enjoy watching Activision go down the shitter
Tony hawk made a contract in like 1999 to release one Tony Hawk game per year until 2015.
I bet he'll be very glad when it's over.
Also activision and blizzard have been merged for like 5 years. Don't act so surprised.
thank god guitar hero got on my nerves after a while it's like a remake that has the same features as the previous only the songs are different as if they couldn't release song packs after guitar hero 4

Never played Guitar Hero though.
Now I understand that nerfnow comic. Aka, they milked the cow dry, and now it must be put to sleep.
I loved the song selection in Rock Band. Rock Band also had emotion built into it. The tongue-in-cheek jokes about rock-n-roll and getting famous always made me laugh.
Still just because I like Rock Band more does not mean I don't feel sorry for the cut Guitar Hero workers.
Also, I had no clue Activision and Blizzard were affiliated. They should split, but from the way Activision handles its product, it will not let go of its money printer.
Honestly Blizzard publishes its own games. Activision never puts their name on Blizzard products. It's like a benign tumor from yesteryear when they couldn't publish their own games.

I love both. :buddy:
It's kinda obvious what it means.
I think he means that they say they "make" the games.
I wish Activison and Blizzard didn't merge so we could all enjoy watching Activision go down the shitter
Blizzard and Activision have very little to do with each other in actuality.
I wish Activison and Blizzard didn't merge so we could all enjoy watching Activision go down the shitter
Activision Blizzard is just a publishing name. The actual Blizzard that makes the games has NOTHING to do with Activision.
They're axing all their franchises, the "Call of Duty publisher", if they cut Tony Hawk too I'm going to be mad at them :v:, it was a nice game to play at sleepovers.
What?
Why are people rating him dumb ? Activision Blizzard didn't MAKE any games. Blizzard Entertainment made WoW and Infinity Ward made CoD.
3 different companies.
I like how the thread title doesn't even acknowledge Activision, merely calling them a "firm".
