I find that there are so many overrated artists/bands today. They get way too much attention for music that isn't necessarily uniqe or tht creates something new.
Which artists/bands do yo find to be overrated?
Here's a few that I find to be overrated!
1. Skrillex.
2. Rihanna
3. Nicki Minaj ( Her lyrics make my ears bleed.)
none of those artists are "ridiculously acclaimed".
This thread will contain the likes of Radiohead and Beatles. Even though I don't care.
No one is 'overrated' they simply get more attention than what some people consider 'superior' artists who get less.
Yeah, i should maybe have used other words.
WHICH ARTISTS/BANDS GETS MORE ATTENTION THAN THEY DESERVE, in your opinion?
bon iver, florence and the machine

yeah but who's to say what they deserve?

I dislike bon iver also, but overrated is really a matter of opinion.
yeah but who's to say what they deserve?
As I said, ''in your opinion''. What each and every person thinks an artist deserves varies.
bon iver, florence and the machine
they only made 2 albums
overrated is not a real thing, it's totally subjective to the person and saying they're overrated it basically saying your thoughts on them are more important than those of any of their fans or whatever, because your one opinion that they don't deserve the acclaim they get outweighs all the acclaim they do get and all the people that love them
bit egotistical if you ask me
this thread will end badly.

These kind of threads always do.
pierro scaruffi thinks these are the most overrated artists:
Beatles
Elvis Presley
Prince
David Bowie
U2
In ways, he's right, but I still don't care for the opinion.
*insert popular bands here*
basically how the word overrated works.
I honestly don't understand why Radiohead are heralded quite as much as they are, but that's not something I can definitively say is right or wrong.
Different tastes lead to different people becoming popular.
Aphex Twin. Some of his stuff I really like, but some of it I personally don't really see the appeal of.
These kinds of threads are always terrible on any forum because everyone always posts the same things over and over again.
Box me for this but, Metallica..... Don't get me wrong I love them and everything it's just that their last few albums haven't been thrashy. People still praise them and won't accept the last few albums have been poo-poo. (I still love Metallica though.)

I'll admit that some of his tunes are a bit hit or miss.

because they are the ultimate music nerd empowerment fantasy
become pop stars while still doing all the music you want at no cost to your popularity while the critics fawn over everything you do

everyone loves his ambient stuff, but his acid tunes are way better
Pendelum, please dont hurt me
Pendelum, please dont hurt me
We won't.
i dont care much, but im surprised no one mentioned daft punk
[editline]27th July 2012[/editline]
yet
Out of the 3 Daft Punk albums I've heard, there have only been a handful of memorable songs.
The songs were really great, don't get me wrong, but the albums on the whole are average at best.
Daft Punk's Alive 2007 album is the only one worth hearing imo.
Discovery is propped up as the greatest of the great when it really isn't. Homework ain't bad, but still.

Lulu was great and it's the only time I heard Metallica truly feeling good about what they were doing.
Only DP album I didn't really like (as a whole) was Human After All.

Yeah. I find other "IDM" to be a bit more memorable.
odd future
death grips
basically all hipster rap

wow cool if you don't want to share your opinion don't post (the whole point of this thread is to share your opinion)
death grips makes tyler the creator seem like Taylor Swift. :-)
Lady Antebellum.
Them and their tea commercials. Daft Punk should be in those tea commercials...
not too popular (I think, dont know them too much) but five finger death punch. My best friend absolutely loves them and I listen to their stuff and I just cant enjoy it, it sounds like they're trying to be metal, but not quite getting there
