I'm sorry guys, but I don't know if it's real or not. I'm basing this off someone's status on facebook.
They've got the key and everything. I don't have a source.
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has reportedly released an encrypted "poison pill" file that contains sensitive data related to Guantanamo Bay, Afghan military ops, Bank of America and the BP oil spill.
The file - known as insurance.aes256 ...- is locked-down with a 256-digit key deemed virtually unbreakable by even the US Department of Defense (DoD).
Assange, who is using the sensitive data to hold governments hostage, states: "We have over a long period of time distributed encrypted backups of material we have yet to release. All we have to do is release the password to that material, and it is instantly available."
Assange explains that if any government tries to stop WikiLeaks by downing the website or detaining him, he will disseminate the "poison pill" password, allowing anyone to access the highly-embarrassing documents
HEADS UP, I don't know if this is real or not, so if not, I apologize. Just wanted to bring this here as soon as I found it.

And we wait.
Try it, maybe? Before you make a thread?
Source on the key?
Edit: I'd rate myself bad reading, but its gone.
Ask the person on FB for details?
How do even enter the key?
use truecrypt
-snip-
Rate dumb
don't you use truecrypt or something

Oh god :tinfoil:
I right clicked the insurance.aes file and hit AEScrypt (i have that installed), and it brought up a pword prompt, I c/p'd the posted key, a loading bar came up when I realized I was just encrypting it again.
Learn from my mistake.
I think? I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about, ignore me.

I don't have the file, I'd rather not do any file cracking, I just like reading up on these things
I have the file... as for geting it you need to use a tollrent
-lolsnip-
Me too, trying to find a way to enter the password.
I have the file... as for geting it you need to use a tollrent
Get truecrypt. Not sure what to do from there, never used it.
I have the file too, but I can't figure out how to open it.
We all downloaded the insurance file but don't know how to fucking get it open..
People are jumping on this file like sharks to blood. This may be legit.
God dammit.
Ask him for the source. If he is unable to provide it, I would call it bullshit.
The key is apparently 256 characters, this is 350.
And bits of it look similar to random typing, not random generation IMO.
(For example: "bghujssss" looks like what you would get if you typed random letters starting with b)
Apparently it was hosted on CNN, but it was taken down. It's on two of the forums my friend frequents on now.
Can someone please tell us how to open it?!
Shit's about to hit the fan
assuming this is even real
this thread is almost comical
I googled a part of the key and literally no results came up, starting to think we got trolled.
<snip, bad post>
Honestly, I'm not trolling. I just saw this, and I wanted to report on it.
You can use AES Crypt to try to open it. I just tried it, and it's not working.
Honestly, I'm not trolling. I just saw this, and I wanted to report on it.
I'm not accusing you, just maybe the person on FB made it up. Appreciate the effort btw.
Use truecrypt guys

Not you trolling, the person who originally released it into circulation.
This is some mighty fine trolling.
