At least no one else died. I hate this happening in my state.
Coincidentally, we are currently voting on a couple initiatives that have to do with gun regulation.

Vote yes for mandatory background checks or vote yes for no background checks.
They are also right next to each other. How dumb.
This wasn't in Seattle, it was in Marysville. Small town north of Seattle.

It is a lot easier for people to know where, when they say just north of Seattle. Instead of saying "yep this was in Marysville, in WA state."
Oh okay, I KNOW EXACTLY WHERE THAT IS! Gives people an easier way in their mind to understand where it was.
Though weird to see that hit so close to home for me, live over in Bellevue.

Title says "in Seattle". That is probably what Kane meant.
People think that would make a difference?
If a person is dead set on killing someone or certain people (this was yet again at a high school so I'd have to assume the most likely scenario), it's going to take more than some harsher regulations or security to stop them.
As far as school security goes, if they were to make it too difficult for it to happen during school hours it wouldn't change the fact that they'd still probably go through with it outside of school. What people dont seem to understand is that, while random shooting sprees have happened in the past, most of these are actually targeted.
It won't do much besides put in more background checks on the state level instead of just doing the required federal background checks.
However there is another thing on the same ballot that wants to not let that thing that does not exist yet not happen.
So if we are lucky, both will have the majority vote, they will have to redo the whole thing because those two things on the same ballot should have been one thing.
It would be funny to see how they would try to make it work if both state background checks were both required and banned at the same time.
A few years earlier and it could have been some of my friends on the victim list.
Small victories, yeah?
I live right down the street from this school, helicopters have been buzzing around for a few hours now. Kinda freaky when it happens so close to you..
Alright American media, now's your chance to take a hint from Canada and give the gunman as little attention as possible.

Too late, a 1 hour long documentary is already out on Blu-ray

Local news channel I've been watching has mentioned the shooter's name, but so far have been really sensitive about most things. Kinda surprising.

Yeah not gonna happen, his name is plastered all over the place now.
Why the fuck does this shit always happen around late autumn and winter?

Beginning of the school year is usually when kids are at their nastiest. Freshmen are new, don't know many people. Bad things happen. Shooter was a freshman too, I think.
I can't confirm since I never went to the school, but I've heard through peers and the grapevine that there's been a bullying problem for a while now. Generally always is in this town.

"haha wow, glad it wasn't me or my friends that were shot!"
Two dead and more in critical condition. But they don't matter because they're not YOUR friends.
Not to be an ass or anything, but that's basically the vibe I got from your post.
Objectively, maybe not. But can you honestly say that, to you, some other person dying is just as bad as someone close to you dying?
I live in Marysville, and my mother lives right behind the school, so this was a big shocker for me.
I'm sure he just meant he's glad his friends weren't in the line of fire. Too much reading into what he said.
"they're gonna have to be OSO resilient"
holy shit did this news lady just fucking make a PUN during something like this
Yeah the local news here is already being twats about this, they've started playing video of his homecoming "crowning" or whatever the fuck it was and are thoroughly dissecting his life. makes me fucking sick, who gives a shit? What about the kids wounded? Who was the kid killed? Why should this asshole receive all this fucking attention?
edit: or maybe it was the other kids homecoming? fuck if i know after an hour and a half of commentary i closed my door to the common area
I've been listening and it sounds like a targeted incident. It sounds like the kid went up to a table and shot the kids there then ran off and killed himself. My guess is there was some sort of issue with this group of kids, possibly former friends, and he went and killed them. From the looks of it it appears to be an isolated indecent in that an individual targeted specific people as apposed to shooting anything and everything.
Its just a fact that getting shot at school is part of curriculum in America now

Vote YES to prevent media from running national 24 hour specials on school shootings while continually blasting the killers face and all of the terrible things he did so other insane people get idiotic ideas to do the same.
Actually, change that to any sort of mass shooting. The only people that need to know about it are the local community and those affected.
Wouldn't be surprised if he was being bullied. You'd think kids these days would wise up and stop fucking with people, you never know how far they will go til it's too late.
Media coverage of shooting events is really appalling. Focusing all the attention on the shooter and his life.
The shooter is already celebrity status. Stay classy media.
Shit, my girlfriend moved here from Seattle. I've gotta ask her if she knows anyone who goes to that school. :pwn:
