The photo shows the 11-month-old baby in a diaper, sitting on a carpet with his face leaning over the glass smoking pipe. The baby's 19-year-old mother claims the pipe didn't have tobacco or drugs in it at the time, and that the boy didn't inhale any smoke. She says she posted the photo online as a joke to show one of her friends. The picture was widely distributed around the Internet, and eventually landed on the desks of Florida child protection officers, who didn't think it was so funny. The state Department of Children and Families has launched an investigation into the woman's parenting skills, and says she could face charges if it's revealed that the child was exposed to drugs. "We are alarmed that any parent would take pictures of their child next to what is obviously drug paraphernalia," department spokesman John Harrell said in comments carried by several news outlets. The Florida TV station WJXT used Facebook messaging to contact the woman, who lives in Keystone Heights, northwest of Gainsville, and questioned her about the photo. "If u look at the picture u can see that there is no bowl in the TABACCO pipe," she responded, with grammatical and spelling errors. "And i took a pic to show one (expletive) person and it was a mistake. I would never ever ever let him get high." The mother is undergoing drug tests as part of the investigation, and her son is being examined by state doctors, she said. In her interview with the TV station, the unnamed woman accused the media of getting her into trouble. "Do you realise how serious this is? i can go to jail and he can be taken away from me. WHY would you do something so (expletive) stupid?" she asked. "i know what i did was stupid but i would NEVER put by baby in harm. im so nice to everyone idk (I don't know) why you would do this to me."[/release] Wow, that mother sounds like a fucking moron.
Well, in her defense, Teletubbies is fucking awesome while high.
:350:
I see hope for the young one.
sux2bher lmao
Fucking badass baby
Wonder where the father is... Also, anyone who spells like that should not be having children. Also also, 11 month old baby, 19 year old mom. She must have been 18 when she had the thing... Way too young to be having kids, especially if she doesn't understand how this could blow up to be such a big deal.
Mother does something harmless -- police outraged.
He's dressed like Tommy from Rugrats :buddy:
She should have bumped up her grammar when it became apparent who she was speaking to. They're making too big a deal of it though. I think the circumstances are pretty obvious.

Well, if she really did mean it as a joke, then it seems okay. It was a very stupid thing to do regardless, but if it was a joke then there shouldn't be any harm in that.
If there where drugs in it then yes, it would be a problem, but since it was empty I don't see the harm.
I hope her baby gets taken away from her, 19 is too young to be a responsible parent as it is.

What an idiot mother... Hopefully her baby is removed from her custody and placed with responsible guardians.
She isn't helping herself by posting responses with errors in them. Honestly, if you want people to think better of you then post messages with some thought into them. Oh wait, she's 19. I guess she's just still too stupid and young.
Well honestly isn't it true that doesn't have to be drug paraphernalia.. I don't really know. She's a dumb 19 year old. It happens.
What an idiot mother... Hopefully her baby is removed from her custody and placed with responsible guardians.
How does this single act judge her parenting skills? She put what seems like an empty piece of drug paraphernalia next to a baby that has zero chance of comprehending what it is or what it is used for. No harm done. Now if the baby was drug tested and resulted positive for drugs then it would be a different story.
guys it's obviously a vase
I live in Florida. This isn't shocking. At all. But, lol, why'd they censor the baby's face? What, is someone gonna figure out who it is if they don't?
The police have no jurisdiction to do anything about that. No proof that any drugs were in that = nothing they can do. Just the police trying to flex their arms.

She wasn't the best parent either but I ended up with a good life and anyway all parents make mistakes no matter how old they are. I know some people who are in their 30-40's and they're not the best at parenting either. So yeah it was dumb of her to post that picture but she thought it was funny and probably cute. If I was her and saw my baby doing that I'd probably take a picture too. Then take it off the kid and put it away. So it doesn't matter how old someone is when they have kids they'll all make mistakes.
I hope her baby gets taken away from her, 19 is too young to be a responsible parent as it is.
no, it's not.
I thought that baby had a dildo in it's mouth for a second...
I thought it was a staged photo. Otherwise, why is a "tobacco pipe" in reach of an infant anyway? I know they're curious and get into nearly everything, but still.
Mother does something harmless -- police outraged.
Mother does something harmful -- police inraged! On a related note, why of all the things would she let her child play with a bong and then PUT IT ON FACEBOOK!? This is what we called bad parenting [editline]12:00PM[/editline] plus STUPIDITY
So what legally is wrong with it? Where is the harm in taking a picture of a baby that looks like it is taking a rip off a bong with nothing in it. I can see why people have a bad reaction to it, but I don't see how it is harmful to the child. Is the issue that the child is exposed to drugs at an early age?
Mother does something harmful -- police inraged! On a related note, why of all the things would she let her child play with a bong and then PUT IT ON FACEBOOK!? This is what we called bad parenting [editline]12:00PM[/editline] plus STUPIDITY
How is it harmful? I can see the same potential harmfulness from a child playing with a bong as a child playing with a glass vase, isn't this essentially the same, especially for a child of a young age who wouldn't comprehend the difference.
What an idiot mother... Hopefully her baby is removed from her custody and placed with responsible guardians.
I hope you get taken away and placed with responsible guardians. Removing a child from a home with no violence or extreme conditions is disgusting.
omg y u wana take my bby away there is no bowl in my TABACCO pipe
