Last month researchers exploring the habits of foxes in the Charlottetown area trapped a female red fox in Stratford and put a GPS collar on it. A few days ago the team lost contact with the fox. That's when the collar was programmed to fall off the animal, and now they can't find it.
"We're really hoping that people can just make a little bit of extra effort while walking their dog."
Whether or not the unit is found, researchers hope to collar more foxes this fall and winter.

Today, our collar is scheduled to fall off our collared fox. Due to unforeseen technical issues, we are unable to pin point its location via telemetry. We are therefore depending on the residents of Stratford to keep an eye out for the collar so that we can retrieve it and download the GPS locations of our fox. If you come across it please contact us immediately via this page or these phone numbers 566-0421 or 566-0602. The collars look like this:

Seriously guys when you're out next just take a look for it.
Not bloody likely. There's too many foxes around here to count(I live an hour away from Charlottetown). Whole province is overrun with them. It'll probably end up roadkill.

This is considered news in Norway :v:
The collar must have fallen off during a sweet dance number with Norwegians singing in English.
