Crashed drone packed with meth found in supermarket parking lot
Mexican police found a drone that had crashed in a supermarket parking lot after being overloaded with methamphetamine, the latest example of criminals getting creative in their attempts to smuggle contraband across borders and into prisons.
Six packages of the illegal drug had been taped to the six-propeller remote-controlled aircraft, which fell out of the sky on Tuesday night near the San Ysidro crossing at Mexico's border with California.
Tijuana police spokesman Jorge Morrua said it was not the first time they had seen drones used for smuggling drugs across the border.
The article also mentions some other weird methods of drug smuggling, my personal favorite being the cocaine breast implants. :v:

Oh, man, just RC your drugs over the border :v:
I've been watching too much breaking bad but I can only just see this as a perfect example of something jesse would do and white would have to clean up after him for

Looks like Amazon just got beaten in the drone delivery game.
Meth is one hell of a drug..

What... The fuck
Don't hop yourself up on the same meth you're about to deliver to someone remotely. Not the best idea.
This one is a interesting read as well.

Cellphones taped to cats
A cat with cellphones taped to its body was found near a prison colony 1,000 kilometres northeast of Moscow. (Associated Press)
Guards patrolling a prison colony 1,000 kilometres northeast of Moscow saw a cat walking along a fence that appeared to be carrying something in June 2013.
They were able to nab the cat and found a few cellphones and chargers taped to the animal's belly.
The incident followed a similar discovery in Brazil several months before where a cat was found with a cellphone, drill and small saws taped on its body.
A prison spokesman was quoted by local media as saying all the prisoners were suspects, but the investigation was going to be difficult because "the cat does not speak."

Some of them are pretty damn creative.
I knew these things would try to go against us eventually.
Why not use a plane instead of a quad/or more -copter

The range is much higher and you can also fit a gas engine on it

Here you have a 80km flight range drone
God damn mexicans should get ontop of their game. One flight would pay for a drone and you can program a route with really no risk at all.

VTOL is a big advantage, the dude with an active fucking UAV airport in his backyard might arouse suspicion.

Solution: Drone Osprey.
This means Hard Ticket to Hawaii is finally coming true!!!
Solution: Drone Osprey.
Yeah but then you would lose like 70% of your shipments as you transition from vertical to forward flight..
This is some pretty cyberpunk shit.

assisted takeoff, maybe using a sling kinda thing? Besides they could probably launch it from different locations.

Those things aren't very big. You could easily set up a rudimentary airstrip in the desert.

Just land it on a field, they don't have to be super big to carry 1kg of whatever and the cost is minimal

Who said anything about landing it safely?
Crash it into a shrub in the middle of nowhere.
Awesome, more ammunition for fear-mongers and media sensationalists.
wow
