Help me find one for a decent price? I don't know the first place to look and I'd like to record a few tracks with some of my buddies. Thanks
Well, how much are you willing to spend? What sort of singing are you interested in? As in, what genres are you going to sing?
We're not sure yet. We want it to be good but we don't want to spend a ton of money. I honestly wish I could be more specific. I'd like to see like 3 different levels in pricing if possible. Like higher, mid, and cheap.
Well, you want a condenser mic. If you get one though you also need a USB or Firewire interface. Or you could go the cheaper route and get a USB condensor mic. In the end, if you get a legit one you will end up spending over $200 easy. a USB one you could get away with spending under $100, but it won't be amazing quality.
Three good mics that are supposedly fairly cheap are the Shure SM7, Shure SM57 and EV re15. Sm57 is less than $100 so it's really cheap, SM7 is (I think) a lot more expensive than the SM57, and EV re15 I have no idea what they cost, but they're an old model so they should be pretty cheap.
Is there a good website where I can browse them
I get all my stuff from here http://www.musiciansfriend.com/microphones

A SM57 would be a good choice. If you need to go cheaper I recommend this mic. Sm57 is renowned as a great vocal mic. I have a Behringer C3 which is really nice.
I would get the MXL condensers, they sound damn good and aren't to expensive. My band uses them for vocals, drums and guitar amps http://goo.gl/h2r7A
I have an MXL 990, got it for 50 bucks, sounds very good, definitely worth the 50 bucks
