I want to learn more about politics, pretty much the essentials of the ideals for Republicans and Democrats. Can anyone point me in the right direction to unbiased explanations, or somehow give me an insight to either party? I don't want to sound be so uninformed, so I can actually have a real opinion developed from knowing about both sides of politics, not just the ideals of majority, or my parents. Just a good website will do, I know there's a lot of opinionated and educated people on this website who have done their research, so sharing what you know about politics would be great. I'm from the United States, by the way.
the news
:foxnews:
Wikipedia would be a pretty good start.
dont because politics is based off of opinions and rarely based on science.

Politics on wikipedia (for the most part) is like looking at fox news for unbiased news.

hey thats just like your opinion man
Guess I'll just have to go to Wikipedia or something to start. I mainly wanted to better understand the Republican/Democratic views on economic situations, don't really care about their moral dilemmas.
It wouldn't be possible to post all information about each party in one topic, there would be squabbles and bickering, people would disagree, derails and etc.
Just look all across the internet, view the most unbiased sources (Wikipedia is ok, i guess.) you can then just for fun look at biased ones.
You will understand how non-biased people describe the parties and how each party describes themselves, which is also important.
Also note there are more than two political parties in the United States, if you're doing a report i bet you'd net some bonus points for looking into them.
(Educating yourself doesn't hurt either)

Not really. For very high-visibility articles like "Democratic Party" and "Republican Party" you'll have loads of dedicated editors making sure that nobody pulls anything shady. Everything will be well-sourced and objective, because the moment anyone tries to spin it one way or the other they get stomped on by a hundred people from the other side.
Bias and bad writing is more likely to creep into obscure pages that only a few people edit per month. As long as you understand how Wikipedia is maintained, it's a great source of information.
I read discussion pages for kicks, you'd be amazed at the level of policy and cohesion they have on Wikipedia. It's pretty incredible how well it all works actually.
Democrats spend, Republicans conserve. There's the economical differences that you wanted.

No. Im not a democrat but political views go much deeper then that. They both want whats best for the country, they just see different paths of getting there.
I didn't really learn anything of value regarding politics untill I started attending college.
Until you get there though, I'd suggest watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

What a wonderfully stupid statement.

There is truth to what he says.
The Daily Show and the Colbert Report are more unbiased then many other news shows.
Liberalism and Conservatism are the ones i recommend

No, they aren't, lol
If you compare them to Fox news or CNN maybe you have a point, but even still, they are left leaning shows.
Jon Stewart loves the Democratic party (unless of course, they do something against their own beliefs, at least he has more morals then those news networks) and Colbert is pure Republican satire.
I'm not even saying that i don't like those shows, but his statement as a whole went totally against the entire point of this topic.

They both criticize their respective parties on a regular basis
