A couple questions for Canadian airsoft collectors or people who've imported airsoft products
29 replies, posted
Hi I live in Canada and I was wondering if you encounter any problems importing airsoft products like a complete rifle.
I've read the must read thread and im dead set on buying an airsoft AK which I believe the best place to buy it is the HK web store. Except I'm scared it'll get caught up in customs as replica AKs are illegal in Canada (but airsoft rifles arn't real rifles right).
Any advice would be much appreciated!
afaik you're going to have to buy from a Canadian site. I'm sure some of the Canadian IFAPers can point you in the right direction
Okay, so unless the company you are buying from is a certified Canadian dealer, your gun will probably be confiscated at the border.
Websites like 007airsoft, albertaairsoft, buyairsoft.ca and halifax airsoft ship exclusively within Canada, and have weapons legal in Canada.
There are more Canada IFAPers on the forum, and they probably know more than me, just wait for them to comment, which I am sure they will.
No, don't do that. Either buy from a Canadian retailer, or get Age Verified on Airsoft Canada when you turn 18 and buy from the classifieds there. But unlike Airsoft Canada, we can actually tell you where in Canada to buy these guns.

Register on the Airsoft Canada forums and make a post asking about getting age verified. Make sure to include where you're from.

An old man comes to your house late at night and you have to perform "favors"
Ah I see. I think I'm probably going to end up buying from that website. Buyairsoft.ca seems to sell cheap G&G ak's but I read a couple reviews that says their metal is bad.
Anyway anyone have experience buying from Airsoft Canada? I don't wanna get scammed or robbed lol

If you don't mind spending a lot of money you could probably buy this.

Real Sword AKs are the best airsoft AKs ever.
VFC is better afaik
I heard that real sword AKs are made to have the exact same dimensions as a real AK. Can't say I've heard the same about VFC.
VFC is better afaik
I'd say they're about equal, except you go to Real Sword for AK-47s and VFC for AK-74s.
Hey anyone know any way to get the Real sword Type-56 to Canada. I don't want to pay $600 for the gun because I'm sure I'd pay more if I could buy directly from the factory in HK.
(I'm from HK living in Canada too if that means anything lol)
Also VFC AK-74 looks expensive also. My budget is $300 dollars can anyone help me out here to find a good airsoft rifle?
I'd be willing to buy an L96 spring rifle too

ninja edit: just read the airsoft canada thread on importing airsoft stuff. not gonna do it now.
instead I think I'm going to try and find a Canada reseller that sells the Real Sword Type56 or VFC AK74 cheap or see if I can get it used.
Right now thinking to buy:
APS AKS-74 FULL METAL ELECTRIC BLOW-BACK AIRSOFT RIFLE (ASK-202) : http://www.milsig.ca/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=87_152&products_id=591
APS AK-74N FULL METAL ELECTRIC BLOW-BACK AIRSOFT RIFLE (ASK-201) : http://www.milsig.ca/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=87_152&products_id=571
ULTIMATE BOLT ACTION SNIPER RIFLE - BLACK (L97) : https://www.buyairsoft.ca/rifles/springrifles/ultimate-bolt-action-sniper-rifle-black.html
Mauser SR Pro-Tactical Spring Sniper Rifle : http://albertaairsoft.com/store/product.php?id_product=1927
SRC G36C AEG (Gen 2) : http://albertaairsoft.com/store/product.php?id_product=2004
A&K SVD Dragunov Spring Sniper Rifle : http://albertaairsoft.com/store/product.php?id_product=1429
Trying to decide which one to get but I think I might end up getting the SVD because I can upgrade as I go. Trying to find some reviews of it now. Any input would be greatly appreciated and I will make my purchase by the end of this month. I will post proof of purchase after so you guys know I'm not BSing.
You're stuck with Canadian retailers, attempting to smuggle guns in is a pretty bad idea.
APS is p. terribad.
The SVD is ok, it's spring powered and the bolt pull is rough since the FPS is pretty high.

Honestly the best gun you have there is the SRC G36. You don't want a sniper rifle as your first gun and APS is terrible.
Dumb question that I can probably find the answer if I took 30 minutes off on google:
Why not a sniper rifle first?

A stock spring sniper rifle will reach no farther than an AEG, and can only load a single round at a time to boot. AEGs are more customizable, and can be way better if upgraded even just a bit, and besides, to use a sniper rifle in the field you would have to upgrade the shit out of it for it to be skirmish ready.
we need a macro image or something for everytime someone asks that question
we do have one
don't know where it is though

That explains some basic mechanics of airsoft that you can then apply to a single shot bolt action "sniper rifle"

That was a very interesting read. I think I'll buy an AR as my first rifle then. The thing is I really want an AK and still can't find where I can get one in my budget range. The spring rifles are so attractive because of that.
Right now I think I'm going to buy a spring rifle first then move on the automatics and not play airsoft with the spring rifle. Its more of a 'learner' rifle rather than a playing one.
Also I've been looking at http://www.mach1airsoft.ca/ . Anyone know anything about this website? I emailed realsword and this and milsig are the only authorized Canadian RS resellers.

There's also Imperial Airsoft that has the realsword Type 56
but yeah mach1 and milsig are both good places to order from

These were posted a while back, I believe the author is from the AirsoftCanada forums
those need to be redone, the text placement makes it impossible to read it in the proper order
Anyone know if other full metal rifles are any cheaper than full metal AKs.
Ex.
Real Sword AK ~700$ with tax
Full metal M16 ??$
Getting metal lowers for M-series guns is a pain in the ass in Canada.

The G&P M4 is cheaper.

Or if you want an AK, here's an Echo 1 for half the price of Real Sword. It's rebranded from Cyma so it should be decent as a starter gun.

The Echo 1 AK is out of stock disregard that.
