An Ice Bucket Challenge nearly proved deadly for Kentucky firefighters after they were shocked by a power line while helping dump water on a university's marching band. Campbellsville's fire captain was critically injured and a second firefighter was hospitalized in fair condition after their fire truck's aerial ladder struck Campbellsville University's main power line late Thursday morning, according to local reports. The firefighters had just finished spraying a group of students below them with water and were preparing to return to the fire house when they knocked out the power to the entire campus, reported Statter911. Down below two firefighters were also jolted and transported to Taylor Regional Hospital for treatment. They have since been released.
Source
This thing is killing and hurting so many people Why the fuck were they doing this near power lines though? What kind of retarded idea is that?
This thing is killing and hurting so many people Why the fuck were they doing this near power lines though? What kind of retarded idea is that?
It's the peoples fault for doing it in such an over the top manner that pushes into dangerous territory.
The 1000 volt challenge
The 1000 volt challenge
Donations will go towards my hospital bills for attempting the challenge.
The 1000 volt challenge
Power lines actually range anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 volts, depending on their usage.
It's the peoples fault for doing it in such an over the top manner that pushes into dangerous territory.
it's like planking and nek nomination everyone tries to outdo each other and ends up dead the no make up selfie trend caused the most casualties by far
if you don't put your brain into gear and even do a bit of practical risk assessment when you're fucking about with a crane and HV overheads you're a fucking idiot
The 1000 volt challenge
This has plenty of potential!
This has plenty of potential!
Hopefully the person responsible will be charged.
This thing is killing and hurting so many people Why the fuck were they doing this near power lines though? What kind of retarded idea is that?
Correction: stupidity is killing and hurting so many people.
Correction: stupidity is killing and hurting so many people.
Pretty much this. All someone has to do is get a bucket (it doesn't even have to be a HUGE bucket), fill it with water and ice, and dump it on their heads. But then these fuckin' weirdies decide "Oh no, NO SIR. A regular ol' bucket is not good enough for me! I must use a trashcan suspended from a balcony/heavy machinery to dump this frigid concoction upon my person!"
The 1000 volt challenge
Take video, I'm amped to see this happen.
Our department did a challenge with a ladder truck hosing us down. Men playing with their toys is recipe for disaster.
This thing is killing and hurting so many people
Thousands of people die everyday. BREATHING IS KILLING PEOPLE OMG!! WE NEED TO STOP!
Thousands of people die everyday. BREATHING IS KILLING PEOPLE OMG!! Not putting blame on the challenge itself, bad wording on my part I guess.
I've only heard of one challenge related death.

I don't understand why people need a "thing" to be convinced to donate.

I would think firefighters knew how dangerous it is to mess around that close to a power line. Especially with a metal ladder and water. Let's hope they'll be okay soon. Also: That must be the most patriotic helicopter I have ever seen.
Ironic that firemen were injured by something as the result of water and ice.
9 out of 10 people wouldn't even know what ALS was if these video didn't start out all gimmicky.
When all the videos started coming out, I didn't even know it was about ALS, because the title just said ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE. I watched a video on facebook, and the person said, "x nominated me, x, for the ice bucket challenge, and now i challenge x,x, and x" Then that person poured a ice bucket over their head, I turned off the video right after, because the challenge seemed like that stupid drinking challenge a few months back. Drinking a shot and beer or something.
