I was driving home from my night class last Wednesday when I first heard about this. It would seem the dark knight has been captured in my area. Was too busy with finals to bother posting about it.

The police in Michigan has arrested a man hanging off the ledge of a 30ft building while dressed as 'Batman."
Police identified the male as Mark Williams, 31. He was said to be carrying some "dangerous weapons" tucked in his utility belt while on top of a building in Petoskey, Michigan.
To complete his Batman costume, Williams was wearing lead-lined gloves and his utility belt is equipped with a collapsible button and a container of pepper spray.
The police was alerted of Williams 'unusual presence' when they spotted him perched onto the roof of the building in Petoskey.
Officers "observed a male subject, dressed in a Batman costume, hanging off the western wall of the building."Officers gained access to the roof and pulled the subject back onto the roof."
Williams was charged by the police with possession of dangerous weapons as well as trespassing. He was photographed still wearing his costume.
In his profile on MySpace, Williams described himself as a "geek" and identifies "The Dark Knight" as one of his favourite movies.

A 31-year-old man dressed as the comic book Caped Crusader was arrested Wednesday in Petoskey after he was seen hanging from the top wall of a downtown business.
The Petoskey News-Review reports officers went up on the roof about 12:40 a.m. and pulled the 31-year-old man back onto the building.
Public Safety Director John Calabrese says he believes the man "enjoys doing this."
Officers confiscated a baton-like weapon, a can of chemical irritant spray and lead-lined gloves.
The Harbor Springs man is awaiting arraignment on charges of trespassing and possession of a dangerous weapon. He's being held in the Emmet County jail.
Petoskey is in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula, about 225 miles northwest of Detroit.

Even 106 KHQ, a Northern MI radio station, had live contact with "Robin" Wednesday night. Batman's beloved sidekick was in downtown Petoskey that night trying to get 50 signatures for a petition to free Batman from the Emmet County jail.
A few other facts that didn't make it to the press:

The story says he was hanging from the building. What they forgot to mention was that he was found tangled in his rappelling equipment.

When asked, Batman said he did it because he was bored.

Someone made a facebook page for the Petoskey Batman, where Williams himself made a public statement about the event. Link.

Gordon needs to get his shit straight.
I think I'll go bail him out really quick.
Michigan, fuck yeah.
Reminds me of that comic book, "Kick-Ass."
They should just let the guy go with a warning and maybe a fee. He was just role playing.
I've contemplated being a super hero, but I'm to lazy to devise a quick and efficient system for getting from rooftop to rooftop.
Haha that's awesome, I spent my childhood summers in petoskey/harbor springs.
Isn't this late?

How observant of you.
Yes. I was busy with finals and graduation when it happened. :eng99:
So much for the hero Petoskey deserves...
I live near there.
