Tony Nicklinson, a man with locked-in syndrome who fought for the right for doctors to legally end his life, has died.
The 58-year-old was paralysed from the neck down after suffering a stroke in 2005 and described his life since then as a "living nightmare".
Last week Mr Nicklinson, from Melksham, Wiltshire, lost his High Court case to allow doctors to end his life.
His family said he died at home at 10:00 BST after contracting pneumonia.
Mr Nicklinson's family said his health had deteriorated rapidly in the days prior to his death.
RIP
this is good then, but, honestly, also bad, how he didn't get to win and do it peacefully
fuck the system
at least he didn't have to suffer any longer.
Edit: Sorry I'm dumb.
This whole "it's unethical" bullshit has to stop, if it's unethical to let him take his own life, it's unethical to force him to live and suffer.

do you really not see the problem with just dumping this new info into an old thread everyone's already read through
He starved himself to death.

Because comparing a headache to facing the rest of your life unable to move or speak is totally fair.
He finally got what he wanted, I actually feel happy for him. If a human being is suffering every day of his life, why not allowing him to end it?

I don't care if you think that euthanasia is right or wrong, I don't think I have the final and only corrcet opinion on that, but that a country complies with the untouchability of a humans life is not a "fuck the system" kind of thing.

you're <naughty word!!!!>< for making the comparison between a headache and locked in syndrome to begin with

what's life worth living if all you're doing is purely suffering? it is a fuck the system kind of thing, because it's the system being fucked up and wrong, and not allow a guy in true, actually physical pain to die in peace, they're basically telling him he just needs to "Wait it out".
Even though his death was tragic, this is what he and his family wanted, at least he is in a better place now and doesn't need to suffer anymore.
But there should be a change in the system, people should have the right to die if they're too sick or disabled to commit it.

Honestly, what good could he possibly bring? He is a completely paralyzed man who takes up oxygen, food supplies, non-renewable resources and a lot of his family's time. He is not only no use to the society or government, he also wants to be dead. I know that what I just said might sounds heartless, but I am just trying to show that he was refused the option to be killed not because he might be of use, but simply because it was a question of ethics.

Euthanasia isn't forbidden because the oh so holy god, but because it is assumed that a person in such a state can't make a rational decision on wheter they want to live or not. And unless the laws are changed, they are upheld the way they are, so saying OMG THIS MAN WANTED TO GIF HIM HIS WILL FUCKING STATE!!!! is fucking retarded and goes against everything most modern societies stand for. I am not judging euthanasia, but your retarded to think that the judgement or denial is wrong.

I'm pretty sure letting this man die would be more humane than letting him suffer.
How fucking stupid is it that we allow a suffering animal to be put to sleep, but as soon as it comes to a person, it's "Oh, we have to think about the ethical side of this."
Right now, we are giving pets better treatment with this issue than people.

Either way, allowing him to be euthanized on his own terms would be considerably better than allowing him to do it himself/live in pain and cause tremendous emotional pain to his family and friends.
Yeah you have no argument but to try and insult me in a way that doesn't even make any sense at all, good for you.
If you want change, you need to bring it yourself, but considering that democracy is the system used, you might find that some people don't agree with you. FUCK THE SYSTEM!!!!
May he RIP in peace.

How does having paralysis stop him from making a rational decision ?
