There are also plans to build memorial towers for him, state media said, and his 16 February birthday will be marked as a "Day of the Shining Star". Kim Jong-il died of a heart attack on 17 December at the age of 69. His body was put on display at the palace before his elaborate funeral on 28 December. The news came in an announcement from state news agency KCNA. The decision to preserve Kim Jong-il was made to show "the unanimous desire and ardent request" of the party to hold Kim Jong-il in high esteem "as the eternal leader of the party", the KCNA report said. The Kumsusan Memorial Palace was "eternal president" Kim Il-sung's home before it was converted into a mausoleum after his death. The "Shining Star" is thought to be a reference to rockets built by North Korea under Mr Kim's policy of channelling funding to the military. Kim Jong-il has been succeeded by his son Kim Jong-un, who is believed to be in his late 20s.[/release] http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-16523768 That means we'll all get to visit him
This is actually pretty awesome.
Fitting, now people can watch him stare at something for eternity. Like we've all enjoyed before.
Ew.
i dont understand why? im surprised people dont hate the guy for his tyrannical rule and the shitty lives their shitty leadership makes their populace live but i guess if stuff like this is funded by the government it doesnt accurately represent the people's opinion
They did the same thing with Lenin correct?
That place is going to smell real nice in a few weeks.
Like Lenin and Mao? You know how they tend to Lenin's corpse? Shit tons of makeup, daily formaldehyde baths, stuffing, wax replacement, etc. In all reality he's a shriveled nasty waxy skeleton. He tissues have been mostly replaced by basically leather through years of chemical baths and makeup application. It's a fucking disgrace that they would shove him up there for decades like a doll instead of giving him a proper fucking burial. But whatever, this is Kim Jong now. His egotistical loonie ass probably would want it. Let em do it, I guess. The Dear Leader will live on in death.
They did the same thing with Lenin correct?
They tried keeping Lenin in a fridge, but he began to rot. They eventually made a chemical mix that preserved him. He still has to be taken out for maintenance however.

People in North Korea genuinely believe that they are doing fine and that the Kim family are gods.
can we please put strings on him so we can make a live action Team America movie? [sp]/joking[/sp]
They did the same thing with Lenin correct?
Yeah, he's exposed in a mausoleum and his body was embalmed using an "exclusive technique". A website has been rather recently opened by the government to ask russians if Lenin should or shouldn't be buried though.

How are they gonna keep his body from becoming a grusome corpse?
How are they gonna keep his body from becoming a grusome corpse?
cover it with chemicals, basically.

They really do believe they are the best country in the world because of the lies their government has told them, they probably don't even know about how other countries are and how much they're being oppressed
They did the same thing with Lenin correct?
yes, but when i was in moscow last spring they said we cant visit the mausoleum so i dont think they show his body anymore.

The weirdest/dumbest thing is that there are people from other countries actually paying to enter north korea and visit it, as any tourist would do with another country. Needless to say, this isn't a good thing at all.
Look at him, he's North Korea's Sleeping Beauty, he's just waiting for his Prince Charming to come and kiss him :)

There is a ridicolous amount of North Koreans trying to escape the country, incluiding their own military. The others are forced to act as if they considered their Glorious Leaders as deities or face forced labour in fucking coal mines until they and their families die of starvation. Sorry, it's just that saying they really like living like that is so naive and ignorant.
It's weird that he died on my birthday. Like the fact that I turned 22 killed him. :v:
It's weird that he died on my birthday. Like the fact that I turned 22 killed him. :v:
yeah that probably did it
It's weird that he died on my birthday. Like the fact that I turned 22 killed him. :v:
Did you make a birth-day wish?
Thank you for not leaving us GLORIOUS LEADER.
And then suddenly:
all of the soviet leaders and their bi-products all got embalmed it seems?
i dont understand why? im surprised people dont hate the guy for his tyrannical rule and the shitty lives their shitty leadership makes their populace live but i guess if stuff like this is funded by the government it doesnt accurately represent the people's opinion
The government controls the peoples opinions in North Korea, it is a shining example of what propaganda can achieve.
NK just has a different way to praise their people so i guess putting him in a glass display where he turns into a skeleton is their way to praise him [editline]13th January 2012[/editline] I mean, they even believe that he created mountains and the sea
Y'know, I wouldn't mind being put out like this after I die, but only if it's only my skeleton and they put red LEDs in my eye sockets, so I can scare little kids.
According to state-run media, Kimg Jong Il is the most prominent statesman in the present world, and people in countries the whole planet over celebrate his birthday with films and festivals. In reality, most nations are confused by his erratic foreign policy decisions on important issues such as N. Korea’s nuclear program.
